hi i am looking for some advice and tips on feeding my baby breast milk but mainly by bottle.
a bit about me first. i am expecting my second son in march. with my 1st i breast fed with out any prob untill he was nearly 3. but he would never take a bottle
with this baby i still want to beast feed for as long as poss but feel i dont have the time to only feed him from the breast. i need to get him takeing a bottle for most feeds. i am hoping to do this asap once hes born.
i have a few questions on my head that need answers but any tips and advice will be fab.
. i have been looking at the medela pump and bottles would you recomend these?
. when can i start pumping? im guessing not till after hes born.
. how much will he need each feed to start and as he gets older?
.how do i build up a stock as well as feeding him enought to gain weight?
. when is best to start with the bottle?
My experience with pumping and bottles is to start a bottle around 3 weeks. I would start pumping right away if you are trying to get a stash. I'd pump right after the first two morning feedings and see how that goes. I would only give a bottle every other day for the first 8-12 weeks so that way baby doesn't develop a bottle preference. (Unless of course you need to supplement, but it doesn't sound that this will be the case for you.)
