Why did you have to start supplementing in the first place?
Did baby have latching issues? Low milk supply? Premature baby? Going back to work?

Share your reasons for supplementing!

We knew from before I had him that we would supplement. I'm not comfortable with nursing in public and it was just kind've unspoken between DH and I that we would do that. 95% of the time he is BF but that 5% of supplementing is so helpful!

Riley wasn't a great nurser from the start. He had trouble latching. We used a shield until a month ago. When I went back to work, he decided he would rather take a bottle and we've struggled ever since with nursing. He sometimes does really great, but other times he flat out refuses.

I'm a stay at home mommy, I used to have a over supply (there was seriously nothing I could do to get it under control. my breast size went from a 36D to a 38H) I would have to pump about 16-20 oz just to not feel engorged. I donated milk to my hospital to help so it wasnt that much of a burden to me.

I had to get my tooth pulled on the 28th of march and they did it without any numbing meds. I ended up getting a super bad infection, and I was so stressed out because of that experience (trust me if I told you the full experience you would be as scared of dentists as I am now) that my supply dropped to a little under 2 oz. So I have had to start supplementing because I just cant let my daughter not eat.

I'm so frustrated with my milk supply that I'm ready to just quit all together right now.

Michael was jaundice in the hospital, and lost a lb of weight... so my ped recommended I supplement to ensure we get rid of the jaundice.

After that - it just seemed that he was such a hungry baby, that my supply on its own wasn't enough. At first we supplemented alot more - but I kept nursing him in between. Now - I pump (at work) nurse (at home) and supplement mostly at night if DH gives him a bottle, or if we are out.... I would say he gets 90% bm, and 10% sup.

Ashley - I get so frustrated for you every time I hear what happened.... I hate the dentist too.
