I don't have a girl....but when you take baby girls in for well visits do they check out their vaginal area they way they do the penis & testicles? I know at every visit for a while i had to REALLY watch & keep saying "dont' retract him" - but is this something they examine more closely for intact boys vs circed boys? Do they check this all out in girls too?

I just have no clue on that...LOL

Sorry I have 2 boys, so I"m not sure. Even their exams were just a quick peek, so I don't know if the exam would be even quicker with a circ'd boy.

I've never had a doctor check out my DDs' vaginas that I can recall. I wonder what it is about the foreskin that makes doctors want to manipulate it?

I have an 18 month old and at each well visit they check her vagina. They lay her down and gently open her up a little to look. Only takes a second and she doesn't flinch.

That's weird. I wouldn't like a Dr doing that at all. Bit different if you go in concerned about thrush or something, but not for a healthy child. So no apart from her new born check my daughter has never had a vaginal check.

My daughter's ped checks her at each visit. She doesn't do anything forceful or invasive from what I can tell. I would stop her if she did. I *think* it's to check for adhesions, etc. I could be wrong though.

When my son went back for his 6 month well child check up she tried to AGAIN pull back his foreskin!! Ugh. I don't want to have to switch dr's but I don't like having to be on guard like this!

It is normal for the doctor to do a quick check of the foreskin or vaginal area to check for possible signs of infection or abnormalities. The foreskin does not need to be retracted unless there is an obvious problem. The doctor may spread the vagina open slightly for a visual inspection.
