Has anyone dealt with this? I just had my second (intact) little boy Feb 18th & have been told (and can tell) that his testicles are undescended. They did a quick u/s in the hospital to make sure they weren't inside his body cavity & they seem to be moving downward (the Dr showed me how to find them - you can feel them in the fatty flap of tissue right above the penis. I *think* one of them came down today as it seems like I can feel it, although I think it slides back in when I touch it, which I think is common as well. Hopefully they will both just come down here on their own soon.

I think so long as they come down now and then and are not up inside the body it is ok. My son hasn't had this problem, so I don't know much about it. I know the cold can make them retract up. Does a warm bath make them come down? Does the Dr seem concerned? If he/she isn't then I wouldn't be, except to keep an eye on things.

Well the Dr's are keeping an eye on it. I never thought to check in the bath though - thanks for the idea. They said if they don't come down before a year they have to bring them down (or it could make him sterile). YIKES...I am hoping obviously that they will just show up on their own.

My younger son's testicles seemed to "disappear" from time to time, but his doctor didn't seem to concerned. He's 13 months now and they seem to stay put now. Undescended testicles are pretty common, so its probably nothing to worry about.

My little guy was born early with neither descended. One descended at 2 weeks old and the other at 6 weeks. Try not to worry, like Jean said, it's quite common and usually solves itself.

I just wanted to update & say they are both down now. YAY! One came down at about 2.5 weeks & the other came down this weekend. The first one seems to go back & forth a little - but at least it has shown up!

Keep in mind that the testicles are supposed to move around. If they seem to retract up occasionally this is normal, but they should be descended most of the time. It's fairly common that shortly after birth, one or both testicles may not be descended.

Usually a warm bath will allow the boy to relax and allow the testicles to more easily descend. If the boy is cold, the testicles usually retract.
