Does your pediatrician tell you your child's BMI at well-checks (which is calculated differently than adults, by the way)? Does he/she ever comment on your child being over/under weight?

My pedi has never told me the bmi of either of my boys, but the docs at the health department always tell me that Stone is overweight for his age. He's 36 lbs and he's 3. He doesnt look big, my 2 yr old is only 2 lbs less and they say he's growing perfectly.

Jeremy was over 30lbs when he was 3. He was 36 at his 4 year well child check. I don't remember if she gave us the BMI but she did talk about where he was and how he was growing. He is "slimming" down which is to be expected as he runs around and grows taller. She said its great and nothing to worry about. I know she mentioned that they try to help and give advice. Childhood obesity is getting bad. I think sometimes Dr's get a little to crazy about how big they are, but then its just a chart.

My oldest has had two peds, and both said he's borderline overweight... according to the chart. He's not, though, because his weight to height ratio is right where it should be, and his head is enormous. It's off the charts (always has been). He's just a big kid. Tall, etc. He was 30 lbs when he learned to walk. He's 4 now, and he's about 46 lbs.

My younger one has had trouble gaining weight. We've started giving him pediasure to bulk him up a little.
