My water broke as I sat in my car (on my last day of work) to drive to the pedi and have the consult - so we met in the hospital.
My cousin rec. our pedi. The most important things for me was to find a dr that would prescribe abx for everything and was open to a more relaxed vax schedule. She fulfilled these criteria and we like her!
It doesn't work like that in the UK. Everyone in the family sees one doctor, a GP (general practitioner). Then there are consultants who work in hospitals or big medical centres who you get referred on to if what you have is more of an ongoing complaint, who will be a specialist in that field, and that's where all the pediatricians are too. When the GP refers you, you don't get to pick, you just get assigned to a ped. Daniel has a ped for his developmental delays, but well children don't see a ped over here.
