The link below is of Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers from the Disney Channel (Moms may not know him, however your children may surprise you how popular he and his brothers are). The link is of Nick Jonas announcing publicly that he has juvenile diabetes. It is just nice for our diabetic children to be able to look at someone famous and realize they aren't alone.
When my son was diagnosed and we got home from the hospital I googled celebrities with Juvenile Diabetes. The second person listed was Nick Jonas. My 6 (almost 7) year old daughter LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVES him. He is her "celebrity crush" of the month...LOL Used to be Zac Efron...
Anyway, she came home from school and told her about what I found and she was completely excited and read the whole article I had found to her dad that night when he got home from work. She said it is the coolest thing ever to know that Devin can still do ANYTHING he wants to even though he has "Diabweties" (Thats how Devin says it).
What my DD does not know is that The Jonas Brothers is touring with Hannah Montana and her birthday present is concert tickets! We have not told her yet. She is going to be sooo excited because knowing that Nick has JD just made her that much more intrested in him.
Now the sad part is that my SIX year old is already SOOOO into boys...LOL
Austin's a little older so he isn't into the Jonas Brothers. I think I have been a little disappointed that he hasn't really ever said much on Disney channel itself about it. I can't necessarily blame him for it, but it would be nice to see him talk about it on Disney itself. It would be good for kids and parents to get a better awareness of it.
I read an article about him in People Magazine a couple months ago. It showed him playing drums with his pump visible in the picture. We don't watch Disney so we don't know who it is but it's still great for Gabby to see kids doing extraordinary things despite of diabetes.
