I'd consider true post dates to be over 42 weeks.
I'll find out what my midwife thinks on Thurs.

With this pregnancy over 40 weeks would be overdue, because I'm 100% sure of the dates since we did fertility treatments. I have no idea what my OB considers overdue, because the conversation has never come up. I'll never make it that far.

I am due 4/12, and my Dr says he won't let me go past 4/20 - so I guess that would be overdue.

I don't know. Technically your due date is just a guess because the average pregnancy lasts 37-42wks. But that doesn't mean that at 40wks on the nose you're done. I'm going with 42wks which is the point when I will consider getting baby out by induction.

I figure I'll be lucky to carry this little guy to 37 weeks with my health issues so 39 weeks is totally overdue to me that being said my doc considers anything of 40 weeks overdue

Only because I'm paranoid and have heard too many bad stories, I am antsy to get her out of the womb by 38 weeks. I technically consider overdue anytime past 42 weeks, since term is 37-42 but if I go until 40 weeks, I'll be nervous and on edge. I just want her here safe. The likelihood of me getting to even 37 weeks is not high but it gets higher each day!

I think 41 weeks is when I'd be itching to be induced and get that baby outta me! I know with my first pregnancy they scheduled an induction for 12 days past my due date.
I've been told that 36 is term with twins and 38 is overdue. Which is when they will induce me (38)

Well, I know that 40 weeks is just an average and a full-term baby can come anytime btwn 37 & 42 weeks. Still I think of anything after my due date or 40 weeks as "overdue." Not necessarily that anything has to be done about it or interventions are needed or anything - just that they are past the due date.
I think that is what most people assume you mean when you say you are overdue, so why confuse the matter by throwing in that 40 weeks is only an average? With my DD I delivered her at 41w, 1d. I was telling people I was 8 days overdue, but I was fine not intervening and waiting to go into labor on my own because I knew that most babies are not going to just come right on their due date and I was still within the "norm."

42 weeks, technically. But any day past 40 weeks would feel overdue for me. I wouldn't induce or anything until 42 weeks though.

Due dates are weird. Any date between 37-42 should be a due-date in my opinion but thats too complicated and we'd never know how far along we are. My brother was due on xmas day (they were gonna name him Nicholas) but he was born on 1/5 and my mom always says he was so "late" but he wasn't 42 weeks even!

um I have only had c-sections beyond my first child, but my old dr (who I hated and switched from right after sophia was born) was going to induce me at 41 weeks. I don't know what my current OB thinks because like I said I have had only c-sections.
With my first I would have said any day past 40 weeks was overdue, but I think I would say whenever baby is ready? as long as it is between 37-42 weeks.

Overdue to me is 40 weeks 1 day. I actually HOPE to get to 40 weeks and 1 day (and that she comes that day, lol!) It would be really really convenient if she came that day. I hope she doesn't come any earlier than her due date because then my mom won't be there. and she BETTER not come until at least daddy comes back!!

I'd probably say after 42 weeks would be overdue.

I'm proud of both of us! (And our idiot cervixes) We've made it so far! Let's make it to 37. We can do it!
And yeah, I would consider 42 weeks overdue. I know a lot of women that are too quick to induce. Let that baby bake!

With my son, they wanted to induce me shortly after 40 weeks. I refused, so they said that I could wait until 42 weeks. My son was born two days before the 4 week induction.
With this baby, my doctor says that I can't go past 40 weeks because of my age. We shall see what happens. I agree with the poster above that past 40 weeks is overdue, but it doesn't mean anything has to be done, necessarily.
