The reviews seem to be pretty darn good! I was reading about the mother's milk stuff and some people (while they can't be sure it was the mother's milk) said they had their supply come in like just 24 hrs after birth or something? Kind of makes me want to pack some of this in my hospital bag and give it a try.. lol
I never had a problem with my milk coming in and had a good supply. I did have some mother's milk tea to drink at one point but didn't need it. I'd only do it if I didn't have a good supply.
My supply dwindled at one point with Marcus when he went through anursing strike. Pumping doesn't get milk out like a baby does. Fenugreek helped a little bit, but it made me smell sweet, lol! It was weird.
Oatmeal boosts your supply faster than anything else I've tried. I don't mean processed oatmeal cereal, the raw stuff. Buy some, make it into cookies and eat as many as you want without guilt! it's helping you feed your babe!
I used fenugreek when pumping to increase output. It definitely worked lol. Went from like 3-4oz to getting almost 9oz per side. It can make you smell like syrup, as it is the ingredient used to flavor artificial syrups, but I didn't experience that. I usually use oatmeal while nursing, and have also eaten oatmeal cookies similiar to lactation cookies. I have the tea and drank it occasionally, but never noticed much. As long as you feed baby frequently from birth i.e. every 1.5-2hrs round the clock, your milk should come in. Mine took a little longer with baby number 3, but she was fine during the meantime so don't let them try to worry you by freaking out about baby's weight dropping too quickly and how you need to supplement if that happens. Once you supplement it can start hindering the whole process.

A lot of the reviews I was reading said they had to drink like 3-4 cups a day to get it to work, so maybe that's why? Some people complained that it took so much to really notice a difference and others were like "I had to drink a ton but it totally worked!!"
That's a huge difference w. the fenugreek!
Anyone know if using products like these, or the oatmeal cookies could actually make it HARDER to produce more milk if you like.. take them and then stop taking them? Hope that makes sense.
Milk is supply and demand. If you take these things to make it and your babies eats it, it'll stay up. The only time it would go away is say if you're pumping, because like I said before, pumping doesn't get it out like a baby does. If you're planning on pumping, I would def. keep taking something while you're doing it. There is NOTHING worse thant he stress of getting nothing when your baby won't drink anything else!

Yeah- pumping definitely is not the same as nursing. I could nurse all my kids no problem, but the minute I tried to pump (after the first 2 months or so) I couldn't get more than an ounce or two total. It was different when I just pumped for a few weeks with Audrey- I got tons!
I've never had a problem getting my milk in. I don't remember with Audrey or Will, but it was in before I left the hospital with Eloise, and I was out about 28 hours after she was born!
See I wonder if the tea is what worked, or the fact that they drank so much liquid lol. Either way it can't hurt that's for sure. Everyone's body reacts differently. I know people who fenugreek does nothing for and they have to resort to Domperidone (prescription drug). When I stopped the fenugreek, my increase in supply dropped off as well, but I didn't have any supply issues. It just went back to the way it was, which was perfectly fine. I only took it to increase my pumping output. But I found that another way to increase pumping output is to nurse on one side, and pump on the other at the same time. The biggest thing to remember is what others have mentioned, supply and demand. If you do anything to cause baby to not want to nurse as much, i.e. supplement, give a pacifier too soon, let too much time go between feedings, your supply will probably suffer.

Personally, I would wait to see what kind of supply you have before taking supplements to increase it because you may not have a supply issue. Ive taken Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle to increase my milk supply but I only took it when my supply dropped off.
I would wait too to see if you have supply issues. I would definitely be up to trying it though.
I am going to try and keep drinking red raspberry leaf tea even after we have the baby because it is supposed to help your uterus (even after birth). I've read it helps milk supply too so that would be nice.
I think I would try oatmeal cookies before the supplements though. Haha!! Nom.
