So I find out tonight at my appt if I tested + for GBS. I was negative with my son. It's not a huge deal if I'm positive, but I really don't want to have to rush to the hospital for antibiotics as soon as I'm in labor, either.

I was talking to my chiropractor and telling her how I'm on these antibiotics for my sinus infection and she goes, well at least you don't have to worry about being GBS +. I should have asked her right then what she meant, but then I thought about it later and was wondering if she was right - does it work to have oral antibiotics in the weeks before labor?? The research I'm doing shows it's not as effective as IV antibiotics during labor. Has anyone else heard of this??

I was GBS + with my last pregnancy. I was put on oral antibiotics AND given IV meds during labor. The bad thing was my labor was only 3 hrs long and you need at least 2 doses of IV antibiotics in you in order to consider it "safe" for baby to pass through teh birth canal. Which I believe takes 6 hours by IV?

So my poor lil man was given an iv in his arm and given antibiotics for 5 days through it as well as tested and watched carefully. But he ended up ok thank goodness!
