Since our babies are too young for sunscreen, what precautions are you taking to protect their skin??

We do a lot of shade, sunhats, using the sunshades on the stroller, rashguards when they're in the pool with a sunshade on their floats. We also bought this cabana Sun Smarties Family Beach Cabana Tent - One Step Ahead Baby for when they're out in the yard, we take them to the beach, or we go to the park.

She wears a sunhat! And we keep her in the shade when we are out.

We try to keep Cameron inside as much as possible. If he has to go out we keep him in the shade and keep him covered.

I know they say to wait on sunscreen, but I still use it. I think it is 3 months.

6 months. I asked our pedi at their 4 month well check if we could use it now because we're going on vacation to the beach, and he said no. They have a high body surface to volume ratio and absorb too many of the chemicals.

We mostly keep her in the shade/indoors and use a hat but if we have to we do use sunscreen. But we specifically use California babies which is ok for little ones less than 6 months. The reason being is that it's formula doesn't absorb into the skin. I think it's zinc oxide and titanium something that sit on top of the skin and aren't absorbed. But I will warn you, California babies is expensive. I think I paid $20 for a 2 oz container. But it'll last us all summer and then some.
