We have been using regular toothpaste since they turned 3 and the dentist told us to. They learned how to spit after a few tries. They think the "spitting" part is fun!
Are you still using training toothpaste with your toddler?
I am. Hayden loves "big boy toothpaste" but I still use the training one b/c he swallows most of it.
Have you taught them how to spit while brushing thier teeth yet, like they would with real toothpaste?
Spitting is a work in progress lol! He makes one heckuva mess and still hasn't grasped the concept of not swallowing the paste, which is why we haven't made the switch yet.
We use regular children's toothpaste. I make sure only to use a tiny bit to minimize the amount she swallows. She does spit but doesn't always get much out, you know?
I never used training tooth paste with my kids. I always just used regular tooth paste and only a little bit. I taught Dillan to spit it out when he was around 2 years old. He does a good job with it now. I brush his teeth first then let him try he does not to bad.

We use regular children's toothpaste and have since Presley was 2.5. She spits great and also thinks it's fun! I still brush her teeth first then let her do it!
We use regular toothpaste and Jacob swallows it. I don't really feel concerned about that. We tried teaching him to spit and instead he swallows first then pretends to spit. lol.
