I had the ultrasound last Friday, did not find out the sex and found out I have Placenta Praevia. The tech made it sound like it was "very serious" but I'm not stressing out until I hear what the doctor has to say (my follow-up appt is on the 10th of January). After talking to the tech, it sounds like it's a BC-wide policy and that the government wants to charge people to find out the gender, and she said that people terminated their pregnancies after finding out gender. So we're going to do a 4D ultrasound and find out then. So that's that, other than that the baby is healthy, happy, 10 fingers, 10 toes, moving around and having fun!
people terminate after they find out the gender. yeeeesh! i havent heard of that before. so happy the appointment went well. you've still got time to clear the previa. looking forward to your 4d photos. those are amazing!
I have no idea if that's just what they're saying in order to start charging people? But I mean, how much could they charge? No more than $59 since that's the going rate at the ultrasound clinics regardless.
I'm hoping in 4 weeks to have a full ultrasound 4D.
I think that rule in BC started because of certain populations of immigrants in the province... some societies will go to that extreme. So I *believe* that's what it's due to. I don't know if it still happens, and regardless I think it's pretty bad to basically punish everyone else. Good luck at the 3D ultrasound!
