I had the ultrasound last Friday, did not find out the sex and found out I have Placenta Praevia. The tech made it sound like it was "very serious" but I'm not stressing out until I hear what the doctor has to say (my follow-up appt is on the 10th of January). After talking to the tech, it sounds like it's a BC-wide policy and that the government wants to charge people to find out the gender, and she said that people terminated their pregnancies after finding out gender. So we're going to do a 4D ultrasound and find out then. So that's that, other than that the baby is healthy, happy, 10 fingers, 10 toes, moving around and having fun!

I also have placenta previa. Mine is complete and likely won't change, but I hope yours is marginal...they have a 90% chance of clearing up before baby needs to come out!

Can't wait until you find out if it's a boy or girl! Glad she/he looks healthy though!

I'm not overly worried about the placenta pravia issue, I was having a scheduled c-section regardless, I just hope there's no complications from the placenta closer to the due date.

Glad baby is doing well. I had heard that in some provinces it's hard to find out gender. When are you ding the 4D?

I had a marginal placenta previa with DS and it moved up all on its own. Hopefully yours will do the same, or at minimum, cause you and the baby absolutely no problems.

Glad you will be getting your own scan So sad that people would terminate because of sex. I knew that was/is a problem in China, but didn't realize that was happening elsewhere.

I have no idea if that's just what they're saying in order to start charging people? But I mean, how much could they charge? No more than $59 since that's the going rate at the ultrasound clinics regardless.

I'm hoping in 4 weeks to have a full ultrasound 4D.

Glad baby looks healthy!

I think that rule in BC started because of certain populations of immigrants in the province... some societies will go to that extreme. So I *believe* that's what it's due to. I don't know if it still happens, and regardless I think it's pretty bad to basically punish everyone else. Good luck at the 3D ultrasound!
