Is it true you shouldn't eat sesame seeds when pregnant? I just realized I ate a hamburger with sesame seeds on it and remembered reading something about it but dont remember. Great, another thing to worry about!!!!!

I've never heard of such a thing. I googled it and it said that it is an old wives tale with no scientific evidence. I think you are safe

I've never heard of this either. Good thing since I just made fried rice the other night with sesame seeds all over it.

sesame seedds contain opium, low levels but it is still there. If a persome eats them it can cause a failure of a drug test. Other than that IDK.

Never heard of it. I am going to *assume* this tale came from the fact that there is opium in them. If you eat enough (and poppy seeds) you can fail a drug test. it has to be A LOT though, that is also why most places give you some leway on drug tests as well.

Geeze what's next.... Our parents must have literally put our little lives on the line back in the day. Bc now a days we can do or eat anything.

My OB told me too that "fresh" lunch meat from your butcher or deli is fine. If it sits around, then warm it.
Dunno if anyone else's doc told them that?

Yeah, lunchmeat while heated up can be "safe" although I avoid it while pregnant because it tends to contain preservatives, of which I'm not a fan. And when I'm not pregnant, I try to select lunchmeat without preservatives (sodium nitrite/nitrate).

I don't really know about the sesame seeds. I've heard the opium information before, but they're just not something I consume on a regular basis.
