I just finished taking meds two weeks ago for a bacterial infection and I went for a checkup today and its back, they gave me more meds. I just hate taking all these meds, is there something I can do to avoid it? It is really starting to worry me

What kind of infection?

I would take a lot of probiotics. A little apple cider vinegar everyday. See if oregano oil is safe to ingest during pregnancy. It's an anti bacterial. And raw honey..that's an anti bacterial, viral as well.

I have had 2 bacterial infections as well.

maybe the first one never really went away. I've had one bladder infection. Dr. told me the risk of medicine was less than the risk that could be caused by the infection. You might talk to your dr. about why you keep geting infections.

I have had so many over the years I feel your pain. With my hormones contantly on the change with all my pregnancys and breastfeeding over the last couple year I get them often. I have had bacteria and yeast infections at once. I have had them not go away like you and they gave me oral meds and then swapped to creams and that double wammy of the 2 different forms took care of it last time.

They say they are very common when pregnant because the PH balance in your area is changing so much right now.

I started taking a probionic everyday and I have not had once in about 6 months since I started taking it! One of the nurses at my OB office suggested I give it a try.

I had a yeast and ended up with a bacterial with it. My Dr said the same thing: the hormones and being preggo off sets your natural pH down there and it is very common. I had to take meds. I am not sure that I don't have another one or maybe my first didn't go away completely....

Can you avoid it? It depends on the type of infection!

If it's vaginal, I recommend inspecting anything that goes in and or near it for cleanliness. Always a good practice.

Yes it is vaginal. It may not have gone away like I thought, I also had a bladder infection but it may have been due to the bacterial infection. I hope it goes away this time. I am drinking lots of water and cranberry juice, as I was told it works well for this. Thank you all so much for your concern and your help!
