anyone planning on giving a gift to the new big brother or big sister?
i'm so excited for my daughter to become a big sister, i want her to open something at the hospital to celebrate this life changing event. something special and unique to her. i was leaning more towards jewlery.. but, i came across this, and it just made me ball my eyes out! (i'm possibly a tad bit hormonal!)
When I was pregnant with Lilly we got my older daughter a matching sister bracelet made and one for baby Lilly. Brooke was 11 when Lilly was born so books and Teddy bears were too babyish for her. I wanted something the could have and only the two of them share together even as they got older.
She opened her gift @ our baby shower so she didn't feel left out.
We also had a big sister t shirt made that she proudly wore in the delivery room watching Lilly being born.
We did a special toy for ds1 when ds2 was born. He was too little to really understand the big brother type stuff, but he liked having a toy to open from us in the room, and it was a nice distraction from all the craziness of mommy being in the hospital etc. This time, unless I have to be in the hospital for more than a couple of days, I'm thinking we will do a gift at home. But, if she comes on time;
ds2's birthday will be the next weekend, so they will have that to look forward to as well.
I went for toys that would keep the older two occupied while I was recouperating. The kids also got the baby a glowworm. Ill probably do something similar this time, if I have time before baby comes. If he's a premie, I just don't see me getting those kinda of things done with a tiny premie.
I think we'll get the boys big brother gifts. Aaron was just 18 months when Austin was born, but we still have the little stuffed dog Austin "bought" for Aaron. Aaron's actually playing with it right now and he always says that it's his dog from Austin.
