After looking at the names thread, I googled Blakely and it means "dark" or "black." Oops. LOL

My name means "dark lake" though apparently so I guess we'll be twins.

My daughters name means "garden" and "song."

Grant Joseph - Grant means "great; tall" and Joseph means "He (as in God) will enlarge".

Korean name is most likely going to be Young-Soo, which means "prosperity and excellence".

ETA: Just wanted to add my other kids' names:

Lily Claire: Lily means "lily (flower)" and Claire means "clear, bright, famous". Her Korean name is Eun-Ae, which means "grace with love"

Violet Marie: Violet means "violet (either the color or the flower)" and Marie means "bitter, rebelliousness, beloved, wished for child" It's origin is Hebrew and there's some dispute over the actual meaning, so different places say different things. Her Korean name is Eun-Hee, which means "grace and pleasure"

Brayden means broad, wide. (technically broad hillside).

As for my other children...

Alexander means defending men. Alexander appears in the Bible as the one who helps Jesus bear the cross on the journey to Calvary.

Cadence means flow or rhythm as applied to language, music, or movement

Ethan means strong and optimistic, solid and enduring, or permanent.

Our girl name, Summer Lily, is easy to decipher. It means Summer Lily the season and the flower.

Our boy name is Nicholas Henry. Nicholas means "Victory of the people" and Henry means "Home Ruler." We chose them because they are DH's middle name and his dad's first name though.

Cole is a derivative of Nicholas, which is DH's name. That, and how well it goes with Chase, is why we chose it it means "victory of the people." His middle name, Bradley, means "from the broad meadow." hmmm

My children have biblical names!
Gabriel- "God is my might"

In the Old and New Testament, the angel Gabriel makes several appearances; he is the angel who informs Mary that she will give birth to Jesus. According to Hebrew tradition, Gabriel is one of the seven archangels.

Simon-"listening" (refering to God)
Simon appears several times in the New Testament of the Bible. Simon was the original name of St Peter, one of the twelve apostles and first Bishop of Rome or Pope. Simon the Zealot is named as one of the apostles in the gospel of Luke. It was at Simon the Leper or the Pharisee's house that Jesus was anointed by a woman (Luke 7). Simon of Cyrene was the man chosen by the Romans to carry the cross of Jesus to his crucifixion. Simon is mentioned as a brother of Jesus in the gospels of Matthew and Mark.

Elizabeth, was Alexander another name for Simon in the bible? I am Catholic and we were taught that Simon of Cyrene carried Christ's cross.
Simon of Cyrene - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Of course many names are changed in the bible, so I thought I would ask.

Luke-"bringer of light"

Luke was a physician in Rome and an early convert to Christianity. He befriended Paul, and was his companion during his imprisonment. Luke wrote one of the four gospels describing the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Luke is also called Lucas in the Bible.

Mary-"beloved" and "bitter" depending on where you look!
This is the name of several New Testament characters, most importantly Mary the virgin mother of Jesus, and Mary Magdalene. Due to the Virgin Mary this name has been very popular in the Christian world, though at certain times in some cultures it has been considered too holy for everyday use. In England it has been used since the 12th century, and it has been among the most common feminine names since the 16th century. The Latinized form Maria is also used in English as well as in several other languages.

and this baby will be Abigail- "father's joy"

Abigail was an Old Testament character who saved her negligent husband from the wrath of King David. After her husband's death, she later married David. David's sister was also named Abigail.

So names are really hard for us to choose, because we will only choose biblical ones.

Aaron means strong mountain and his middle name Xing means to conceive.

Austin means useful and his middle name Kong Meng means blessing.

James means he who supplants (takes the place of another especially by force or treachery). Robert means bright fame.

My daughter's name Allison means of the noble sort and Ruth means friend.

It doesn't matter too much what names mean because we pick family names.

Jakob - supplanter; held by the heel
Jaxson Robert - Jack's son and bright fame

Jake's middle name is a family last name. Jaxson's middle name is after my grandpa. We picked Jake (Jakob) and Jaxson just because we liked them. We chose the spelling because of our intentions to go by Jake and Jax.

Lucas (Luke) means "man from Lucania"??????

Tripp means "the third." The meaning is actually why we chose Tripp. Both my dad and DHs dad are Juniors. Tripp will honor both of them without actually having to chose and use only one of their names.
