I thought DH sister's would throw us a baby shower, as this is a first baby for DH and we don't have any baby items. Well, I get the impression that they are not planning one. They haven't talked about it with us. When we were together this weekend, they were talking about all the different family parties and get together's coming up and a baby shower was not one of them. I'm not going to deny that it does make me sad for DH that we probably won't have a baby shower. On the other hand, i'm okay with not having one. I don't want my mom to throw me one, because it's not my first baby and they have done the baby shower thing for me.

We don't have any baby things. ie.. Car Seat, Stroller, Swing, Bouncer, Bath, etc. I feel like I should in case someone does want to buy us something and is looking for ideas. But then I don't think I should because I feel like a registry would be more for if we were having a shower and it makes me feel like i'm being greedy.

With that said. Do you think we should do a baby registry?

I'm not sure. I probably wouldn't if I wasn't having a shower, because even when you do have a shower most people buy what they want to buy anyway.

I would probably just tell people what I needed if they asked. Thats just me, though. I did a tiny online registry for the little shower I'm having in 3 weeks but only because people expect it with a shower. I did a registry with DD and not many people paid attention to it, got mostly clothes and diapers (not that I was complaining).

I don't think there is anything wrong with doing a registry even if your not having a shower. I find that it's typical to have a shower when it's the couples first baby together or when siblings are quite signficiantly spaced.

Bummer that no one is planning one for you.I don't see why your mother couldn't just throw one together for you or suggest it to your husbands family. doesn't have to be anything fancy.

I'm not having a shower and I still registered at Babies R Us. They will send you a 10% off coupon to use for anything on your registry which is why we did it. We didn't need much but there are still some things that we need so now we will get 10% off anything we buy off our registry. Why don't you have DH mention to his family that he would like to have a baby shower for his baby.
