So we are going to be buying the breast pump in the next couple of days and I'd really like to know what kind of breast pump you used (if you used one).

I will be EBF for the first few months, but after that I plan on adding pumping and bottles to the mix pretty regularly. I want DH and other family members to be able to help feed him

So I'd just like to know what pump you used and your experience with it.

Thanks!

Medela Lactina.
Its the hospital grade one. I got lucky and my freind had one from her premie being in the hospital and she sold it to me for $250.00 when i was breastfeeding Madison.

The Medela double electric ones are the nicest, but we decided not to spend that much money on one. I only work part time. I have been very pleased with my Lansinoh double electric (also branded as Ameda) pump. It's been through 2 kids and does just fine. It fits small and wide bottles and it has less parts to clean. Also you can't get milk in the tubes like you can with the Medela.

I used the Avent Isis, which is a single manual pump. I only pumped a few times though, so I didn't need anything more than that.

Thanks so much for all of your input. I just checked the BRU website and the Lansinoh one is on sale for $115 right now. I think we might get that one. I won't be working so I will only need it to pump and store for help from DH with middle of the night feedings or when DH and I want to go out on dinner/movie dates.

If your baby is born early, the hospital will probably rent you a hospital grade one. Or it might be free.....idk, but I would check with them, and check with your insurance company. At my mid pregnancy class, the nurse said that if you need a pump, to get a prescription from your doctor and take it to a medical supply company to be fulfilled and your insurance would pay for all or part of it. I think it's part of the new health care bill that they cover breast pumps. You may only be able to do this after the baby is born, though. At any rate, the hospital has pumps I'm sure and they just give/sell you the parts that touch you and the milk.

I have a Medela Freestyle (hands free one). Didn't use the hands free portion a lot with DS but am hoping to make it a lot longer this time and use it at work.
