I had my weekly appointment with my OB yesterday. The good news is that he did an exam and I'm no more dilated than I was at the hospital. Yay! Still holding steady at 2cm and change. I also get to reduce my nifedipine from every 4 hours to every 6 hours.
The bad news is that apparently activity is still a big trigger for me. Hubby drove me to the doctor and then to Arby's afterwards (yum!) and by the time we arrived back home I was contracting like crazy again. I tried not to let it stress me out but it was a rough evening.
Fortunately today seems a little bit better; still more contractions than I was having before my excursion yesterday but they don't feel constant anymore. I'm expecting a visitor in about 20 minutes but after he leaves, I'm going to lie down for a bit and that should help.
I think the hard part is not knowing what's normal 30-week pregnancy pain and what I should be concerned about. The doctors told me to call if my contractions get painful; well, I occasionally get these little short jabs of pain up in the cervix but as far as I can tell, that seems pretty normal for 3rd trimester discomfort. I'm assuming they mean "call if it hurts like a mofo" which luckily so far has not been the case.
Hubby leaves for a week on a snowboarding trip tomorrow (it's been planned for months) and I'm a bit nervous but I hope I'll do OK. I'm not worried that the baby will arrive while he's gone, but just that I'll try to do too much and will wind up with contractions and cramps and will freak myself out. Luckily we have a friend staying with us until Tuesday and I've lined up a bunch of friends as babysitters to check in on me throughout the week. I'm still a bit anxious though.
On top of all of this, my husband's OTHER cat is now sick (the brother of the cat that had to be put to sleep while I was in the hospital) and now I just found out that my mom is going to the hospital with a respiratory infection that they can't get under control. Wow, it never rains but it pours, huh? At least with the bed rest, no one expects a whole lot from me so I can just sit here and stay calm and try to take one step at a time.
I'm glad things are going relatively ok. It will all be over soon, and will all be worth it. Sending you and your loved ones healthy vibes!! Hope everyone gets to feeling better soon, including the furbabies.
