I have a question for you due to your job experience. I was at the ER last night and when they checked my cervix, while I haven't dialated anymore, the nurse said my cervix was very soft and favorable for labor, which we don't want at 33 weeks. She didn't explain anymore.

My cervix is still posterior, but soft. I was told a few weeks ago I was close to 2cm, now she is saying I'm a fingertip (it seems everyone gets a different dilation lol!). But the "ripeness" she was talking about has me worried!

In your experience, for a fourth baby, is it normal for your cervix to be soft by 33 weeks? Does that necessarily mean labor is right around the corner? Does it increase my odds of preterm labor and a preemie? I am just hoping to make it to 37 weeks!

Yes its normal. And no that does not mean you will have a preterm baby. Lots of multips are dilated to 1-3 cm for much of their pregnancy

Also in the ER they dont so many cervixal exams lol so not surprising you got two diff answers.
