I have been looking at my normal clothes and wondering if I am going to be able to wear them this summer at all... I think I might just start over with my wardrobe ( it needs help anyway) this summer if I can manage to find some cheap things...anyway how long did it take you to get back into normal clothes? It might be a maxi dress sort of summer I am thinking....

My shirts I got back into rather quickly. I think about 6 to 8 weeks after Jackson was born. It took longer for me to get back into my pants but I put on 48 lbs with Jackson so that didn't help. I think I was back into my pants by the time he was 4 months old.

I was in 'regular' clothes after about a month, but I did have to buy giant fat clothes for a while.
The nice thing is the fat clothes are too big for me still even this pregnant!
Well, I could wear some of my bigger jeans right when I got home. I tend to keep stuff like jeans in about 3 different sizes because I knew I'd have more kids and before I had Grady I dropped a bunch of weight. So I have some stuff to get me through. Honestly, this time I'll probably be in maternity shorts for awhile. My summer stuff is pretty small and I have a long way to go..
I'm usually out of maternity and in my clothes by about 3 weeks. I weigh now what I weighed in Jan last year non-preggo, so I have enough of a range of sizes to work with.
It only took me a few weeks... and I gained 40 pounds with Madison.
So far I am only up 17 with this baby so I hope I loss it just as quick.
I like to give the credit to breasfeeding because I was 10 pounds under pre pregnancy weight by the time she was 6 months old
I think all my summer stuff will fit right away because I lost 23 pounds before getting pregnant so once the belly deflates enough I should be good to go. My only wonder if my regular clothing will be to big on me by the end of summer.
I am usually in them within 2w, if not sooner. I have a few different size jeans back down to my "goal" so I try and get out of the stretchy maternity ASAP! Shirts I will be rocking a nursing tank almost constantly anyway.

I was back down to my pre preg weight within a couple weeks after DS. the only problem with my clothes was my boobs got Huge while breast feeding. and it took a little bit for my hips to go back to normal. other than that I was in my regular clothes as soon as my girly bits were healed enough to handle jeans. ...this time I believe will be an entirely different story...I may just be maxi dressing it out with you.
Last time it took a while to lose all the weight and get back into my old clothes. I had nothing but itty bitty sizes, some that I still couldn't fit in when I got pregnant again. But part of that is because it wasn't a huge priority last time. I ended up buying some new stuff. This time I am more motivated and have a plan so we'll see.
I'm hoping it comes off a bit faster!
Every pregnancy and every body is different. I noticed in my last DDC that some women had the weight fall off while others took longer, even if they were doing similar things.
Yeah, this is going to vary by quite a bit. From how much your gained to how thin you were before concieving, to how your body reacts to breastfeeding. ive noticed that if I was heavier before pregnzncy, the weight comes off faster, but if i started out a pregnancy at my smallest, its pulling teeth to get the last of the weight off. also, breastfeeding for some means weight drop s off, for others it causes them to hold onto about ten pounds of babyfat. Then once the nursing stops, the weight drops off easily. I could get back into regular clothes pretty quickly after baby, they just weren't the size 4s from prepregnancy until after i quit nursing. Haha
Even when I was at the weight i was at certain sizes things didn't fit the same.
I must be a fatty patty because I am shocked at how many of you can get in your pre preg clothes less than a month pp. Wow! Impressive. I don't expect those results at all!!

I'm right there with you! I was surprised reading these replies. I guess my body just takes its time!

I was back into some by 2 weeks pp and all by 6 weeks pp. I only gained 25 with Kaiya, and I lost 46 after she was born, so by the time she was 4 months old my pre-pregnancy clothes were too big. I've gained more this time....so it will probably take longer.
It just depends what type of clothes.. most shirts fit pretty quickly even though I didn't really like wearing anything too fitted with my thicker postpartum belly.. Yoga type pants fit right away but definitely not my butt-tight jeans I have to lose all my baby weight to get into those.
I gained 40 with my first baby and was down to my normal weight in 4 months.. I gained around 55 (give or take some- I stopped keeping track) with my second baby and it took around 9-10 months to be back to my normal weight. But yes, I think everyone loses at different rates. Some women lose it all within a few weeks... others never lose it all..

Hmmm, well. I fit in most of my shirts but did not feel comfortable in the ones that were very fitted, since I still had the belly pudge... I didn't wear any of those until the following summer. I prefered much looser shirts. And as for pants and shorts, I didn't fit into my normal size for a year-ish.... but I still had some a size or two up. I have this entire drawer full of jeans in various sizes. LOL I stepped down through them one by one. This time when I get down to my previous size I can actually get rid of all the bigger ones! (I kept them knowing I was going to have another baby!)
So it's really hard to say. Some fit, some didn't, some fit but just made me feel gross. I did buy some new stuff. But don't go crazy buying new stuff because you WILL lose that weight - or the bulk of it - and next year you'll be looking for your old stuff again.
It will depend all on your own body. Like Jillian said, I lost all my weight but I was carrying it differently so some clothes didn't fit. I would rather buy bigger clothes than have that god awful tummy pouch that so many have and think is ok. Yuck. I hate seeing bellies overlapping jeans.
Yup, I agree. also remember that not everybody is talking about really fitted clothes. When I'm not pp, the majority of my clothing is very form fitting, but that may not be the next persons style. So try not to feel down kn yourself when you hear others are back at their weight. Also, some people are naturally very thin and have a hard time holding onto any weight. My mom always says that my grandma always looked best right after having a baby because she was always so thin. Just something to keep in mind. a good rule of thumb is that it took you 9 months to gain that weight, so it may take 9 months to loose it. try and be patient with your body and dont judge yourself based on anothers experience. If you find that nothings moving even wkth diet and exercise, ask for a thyroid test. It's common for it to go haywire after birth. I had that happen after Ella. infortinarly for me, its never fixed and im on meds for life, but all women in my family have this issue. i was eating 1200 caps a dYE, running 3 miles 5 days a week, exclusively bring, and the scale wouldnt budge. It was very frustrating for me and I wish i hadnt pit off that blood test for so long.
all my clothes are kind of junior-ish anyway as I havent updated my wardrobe for a couple years so I dont feel comfortable going back to them anyway. I have like 2 pairs of shorts Im hoping to fit into and maybe one or 2 shirts, but for the most part IM planning to buy new. Loose shirts are a top priority for hiding the pudge and breastfeeding and some longer shorts more appropriate for me. I would love some maxi dresses but I'm 5'0 lol and not that good with a sewing machine.
