I'm guessing you put most of the items on your registry because you liked them, wanted them or needed them. I'm stuck on which high chair, playpen and a few other items to put on our registry. I don't want it to look like I only want expensive items, so I'm trying to find items in different price ranges. There are a couple of things that I've chose cheaper on but the item wasn't my first choice.

Did you consider cost of items at all when making your registry?
Did you try and have a wide range of price items?

yeah Sometimes I picked 2 versions I liked at different prices and let the public pick which one they were willing to buy. Big stuff I didn't compromise on I knew if noone wanted to pay for it I would buy it later on.

As for a highchair, I would strongly reccomend the fisher price space saver, it's awesome if you have an extra regular chair for your table. And it's a very affordable option.

Pack and plays are all about preference in style and what you plan to use it for, do you want to use it as a changing station downstairs or a place for baby to sleep in your room or as a place for baby to play safely? Will you be traveling with it or leaving it home? The answerto those really determines which one you buy. And they are all pretty close in price so I dont think you should worry about that.

I agree!
We have the space saver highchair, and it's been great for both our boys.
With DS1 probably about half the people didn't buy off the registry - it was more of a list for me since I knew I wouldn't have many people buying stuff for us anyway.

I'll third the space saver high chair! That thing is awesome.

I put what I wanted in my registry, no shower here, I just did it to get the discount on the things we still needed.

Honestly i would pick a cheaper highchair, like the space saver ( if you have an extra chair) they are cheaper, and you are more likely to get them, unless your family is rolling in dough.

As for pack and plays, all the "extras" are not needed, seriously. You can get a Graco ( name brand) with a bassinet feature, for about 60-80 dollars, it will do everything the other 150 ones do, but just doesnt have a diaper holder ( not needed) diaper changing station ( not needed) will have a simpler mobile ( again not needed)

I dont reccommend double registering. It throws people off, and they may very well ignore that item completely ( happened on my bridal registry)

There were certain safety things i refused to compromise on ( like my carseat, baby monitor, ect) but things like a highchair or pack and play are not one of them. I would say if some of the things you dont want to compromise on are expensive, then make these a bit less expensive.

Graco Pack 'N Play Playard - Forest Friends On The Go - Graco - Babies "R" Us
this is similar to the one i had, and it was well used. Keep in mind the bassinet features and extras that come with these things only go to 15lbs, so if you have a big baby, or they gain weight quickly some of those extras you paid for will be useless after a couple of months. In the long run, you will only need the bottom portion anyways, all the rest wil be taken off and put away.

This was the pack and play I got.
Baby Trend Playard - Monkey Around - Baby Trend - Babies "R" Us
I got it on sale for $80. I didn't get it for the mobile or diaper thing, but I did like the changer thing on it. I used it a lot with Julian.

If something you want it more expensive, but there are specific reasons you want it, register for it. I also loved the space saver high chair with Julian, however, this time around it won't work as I don't have enough chairs (we have 2 bench seats and 2 chairs).

I agree with the space saver high chair. The way my kitchen is I do not have a place to put a high chair so it was a given with me. I need to get a new one for this baby because Madison used thie other one really well that it just needs replaced. It's great because it turns into a booster so she used it until 3 or a little longer. But we have the high bar chairs so I felt she needed it longer being that high.

For me a pack n play with the changing station is a must. Someone gave me one with madison that was not on my registry and I was so thankful because I was just going to change baby on the couch or the floor down stairs. I already have it set up for this baby downstairs this time more for fear the puppy is going to step or jump on baby while I change him so it's a safe place for him. I also got a new pack n play with the changing station for my bed room and using that as my bassinet. I don't want to have to go to the baby's room every time he needs changed and with a 2 story house that's hard. Also I did not want to take a crying baby to his room to be changed in the middle of the night and risk waking up Madison since her room buts up to his... And having a baby pee or poop on my bed at 3am while I change his doesn't sound like a fun nighit to me..lol.

It's so interesting what some of us think is a total must others say not to waste your money on.

Yeah I have the chicco lullaby magic. (expensive one) and It has a really sturdy changer and that is a must for me as well because of the dogs. I dont know the weight limit right now, but its pretty big and very strong so I will be using it past 15 pounds for sure. It is expensive, but DH's Aunt and 3 adult cousins got it as a group gift. It's stylish so it doesnt stick out like a sore thumb in our living room and that is important to us because as a pastoral family we host a lot of events in our house. Also it's very big and heavy so it is going to stay home, and we have a second hand lightweight one to travel with. So for me I wasn't going to compromise on that, but I did on things like the swing, baby gym, bath gear, ect.
