Has anyone else joined a mom's group? My pediatrician recommended an online group for the surrounding local cities and I was thrilled to learn it has an "in person" group for moms with babies born Jan through June 2012.
We meet twice a week, so far always at someone's house -- though we may try taking over a local coffee shop. The timing is flexible; most moms are there from about 10:30am til noon.
Obviously at this age the group is for the moms, not the babies, but it's a great excuse to leave the house!
Been a part of a couple of local mom's groups since my son was an infant. Love them. I found the ones that I've been a part of through meetup.com although I'm sure there are other sites you could check out online. Anyway, I've met some fantastic moms (and kids) through meetup.com and it's been great for my son's socialization.
I was a part of a mom's group when I had my first, it was through a local health clinic, and the women are all tremendous friends now - they even go on vacations together! (I've moved away unfortunately). I have started using Meetup.com as well for local get togethers, although the groups seem larger and more transient than my previous group.
I joined my local MOMS Club when I had Kate, and it's been great for activities and meeting moms in the area and having people and kids to hang out with. We've kept pretty active, which is important if you're a SAHM, I think - we both go batty if kept at home for too many days!
We do Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) once a week during the school year. I love it and it's been life changing for both me and the kids. I've met some great moms through it.
I tried a group through meetup.com but it just wasn't something that worked out for us.
