Melissa's question of the day today made me think -- what are some tiny little ways that we can sneak in "me time" during the day? Nothing big that would require a babysitter or anything, just stolen moments to keep our sanity!
For me, so far:
* I try to read one chapter of a "real" (i.e. not about baby-rearing!) book before going to bed
* I can get about an hour of cross-stitching done during her morning sleep time
I think this week I'm also going to try to paint my toenails during a nap time.
My husband works 3-11 so today he watched the kids for me while I had a pedi with my best friend. I just nursed the baby before I left and knew she would be good for a bit. I would have NEVER gotten to do that with DS. He was a much more needy baby. She's very content to be with her daddy as long as she's full.
I try to put her in her bed for the first stretch of sleep at night. That way I can do what I want for a few hours and also have some time with DS during his bedtime.
Our gym is a few minutes away so after Chase is in bed we leave Cole with MIL for about an hour 2-3 times per week and work out. DH does weights and I do the elliptical- so I get me time and DH time (even if it's just a few minutes in the car lol)
Thanks so much *Kiliki* for my awesome summer siggie!
we are is the middle of potty training DS, and Lydia seems to have reflux. so she has been super fussy... so "me time" has turned into a shower every couple days lol. and I have found a new appreciation for having time to wash dishes and clean for like an hour when both kids are in bed at the same time. I usually have from like 10-11:30 before I crash from exhaustion or Lydia wakes up. DH also gives me an hour or so in the morning to sleep with Lydia while he watches DS.
I have always read a paper back in bed at night when the boys are asleep. It's the only way I used to be able to fall asleep. I read anywhere from 30 minutes to up to 4 hours. It depends on how good the book is. Generally it's an hour it seems. Anyway since having Archer I read a few pages and I'm out like a light. I miss being able to read for a while. So since I'm not able to read I'm not getting much me time.
