I had been totally procrastinating going shopping with the Ergo. I have no idea why -- I just felt like it would be this huge hassle and I would really regret it. Today I had to go to the store so I said, "self, time to suck it up and give this a try."

WOOHOO!!

It really wasn't bad at all! The hardest part was getting Kira in and out of the carseat from the side while it was attached in the car, but that'll get easier with practice. She was a little rockstar and slept through the whole shopping trip, too.

Speaking of Ergos, I have no self-control and I bought a second one today -- I found a Sport version in red for a good price so I went for it. Our original Ergo (which was a free hand me down from a friend) is already getting warm and the Sport model claims to be more comfortable in summer. Now that I know I can do the stores with an Ergo, too, I'm super excited to wear her more often.

Lol! Your title totally made me laugh because it is so true!!! New things are scary with an infant, but once you do it you wonder why you didn't start earlier!

Glad you were able to get out!

I'm glad it worked out for you! It will be easier as she gets older and you don't have to use the infant insert, too. And it will get easier with practice.....until you add number 2 or 3 in the mix =)
It was a disaster taking my 3 to the store and I even had my mom with me.
We bought the Sport Ergo as a second one, too, but I quickly sold it because I sorely missed the front pocket. It doesn't get too hot here in Minnesota, though.

Great job! I use a Beco, which is similar and it is a lifesaver for outings, especially since I have two other kiddies

I use my Moby Wrap for going everywhere. We do the shopping, go to the park, have playdates, even walking for excercise. It's the best invention ever for getting out of your house with a baby!

I went yardsale-ing on Thursday with Aubrey in our Beco carrier. The hardest part was switching her between the carrier and car seat multiple times since I was in a subdivision with multiple sales but it wasn't walking distance between them. Now I'm a pro at strapping her in :-) It made me feel better about the possibility of doing other errands with her in tow.

I love shopping with Livi in the babyhawk, she is very content in it too. Glad it works for you.

I just want to point out that it doesnt look like you have the actual Ergo tight enough, or high enough on her back. The pillow rim should be touching the top of the ergo and it should be snug against her back. I know she isnt going to jump out, but i would worry about her slipping if you bent over or something.

Thanks! I probably didn't have it tight enough because I was so warm. I'll double-check the next time I put it on and make sure it's in the right place.
