So I saw a different ped last week since Archer's was not there. I brought up his flat head on the side/back since he only will sleep on that side. She said he may have mild torticollis and said she would put in for a referral to get him physical therapy and I would hear from them in a week or two. I don't know if he has it or is just comfortable on that side. But if it could possibly help I am all for it. I tried laying him in his crib to sleep or the bassinet on the pack and play and he does not like it. He loves the rock and play sleeper. I have noticed the back of it is a lot harder than a crib mattress. I feel like in the crib if he does lay his head on the side it might not be as bad. And no matter how many times I position his head the other way he turns it back when I am asleep. He is sleeping long periods through the night and I feel that is not helping that side. Last night he slept nine and a half hours.

liam often has his head tilted the same way too ive wondered about torticolis but his head isnt getting flat i dont think but he always sleeps on softer surfaces since we cosleep. im keeping an eye on it, I think the big test is if he will move to the other side when awake.
a little girl i nannied had it pretty seriously and it was very noticable. And she would never turn her head to the other side. Here is a picture of her when she had it

this is liams head tilt but i think he only does it when he's sleeping

I thought the same thing Leddie. At first I thought that was Liam and Becky had put a wig on him..lol. Didn't read the post clearly enough the first time.

Brandy glad they are referring you to a specialists but I think I told you that Jackson had a terrible flat head and I worried like crazy over it but it resolved on it's own. He always preferred one side also and I tried to get him to lay differently and he just wouldn't but now at 3 he has a perfectly shaped head. I hope the specialists can help put your mind at ease.

My child had tort as well did his cousin.
Just because a child has a flat head doesn't mean tort, nor does a child have to have a flat head to have tort. Julians head was NEVER flat and he had a pretty bad case of tort.

Brandy, when he is awake does he turn his head totally both ways . What about when feeding? Switch what sides you do and have him turn his head inward. What about tummy time? Does he like it, or scream like he is in pain? Most babies this age are NOT a fan a tummy time, but Julian would scream in pain.

If you have any questions, pm me or you can email me aetj81@gmail.com sometimes I don't come here for days.

Julian got therapy for it for a few years. He still has fine motor delays from it.

You know he was crying already before she examined him. From how she acted I think she thought he was crying when she turned his head the other direction because it hurt him a little. maybe she noticed something I didn't. but he was already crying. So I'm not sure. He doesn't look like the little girl above. He holds his head and neck normal. He hates tummy time on the floor. So I do it on my chest. he doesn't act in pain at all. As a matter of fact he has had a strong neck since he was born and was holding it up and turning it no problem. I feel like he might just prefer that side. I read somewhere once they get used to using a certain side it's more comfortable for them. I think I will go to the therapist anyway and get their opinion. Maybe they would know more since they see it everyday.

Thanks for your email

I need to try and take a picture of his head it looks bad to me. It's more extreme than just a flat spot to me.

Do you have an early intervention or early on program for 0-3 in your area? That is who REALLY helped Julian! Here is a picture of him.
