Alexander is only a week now, but how do your little ones around that age nurse at night? Nurse then sleep right away...One boob or two....do they stay awake for a while and then you have to calm them to sleep?
Just curious. Alexander seems to be sleeping fairly soon after nursing, but I still don't know if one boob is enough because often he'll wake up as soon as a put him down and want another feeding, atleast I think he wants another one or does he want to be soothed. You'd think I'd use my experience to get me through these questions1
Grant nurses off one breast per feeding. He wakes at night, nurses and usually goes right back to sleep. He sometimes will fuss again a few minutes later but is easily soothed. If he's not easily soothed (somewhat rare), then I just nurse him again.
Sometimes Jacob will nurse one boob and sometimes both boobs. In the middle of the night, I will usually let him nurse on one boob then change his diaper then try to get him to nurse on the other boob. I want him to fill his little belly up so I can get some more sleep. Sometimes he will nurse on second side then go back to bed and sometimes he will not nurse but just go back to bed. Just see what works best for you little guy.
Thank you *Kiliki* for my beautiful siggy
For us, JR doesn't like to nurse completely to sleep. He eats on one side then is very drowsy. I put him down and I give him his paci. He takes a couple of sucks and is asleep. On the odd chance that he wakes completely up, I will feed him again, and start the process over!
Ember's a little over a week old. She takes one breast per feeding, but I've noticed during the day she wants to go back to it a few times. At night I'm not sure, but she seems to just fall asleep after nursing on one side. I tend to fall asleep too, so I'm not of much help, lol. I sometimes try to put her back in her cosleeper but that doesn't often happen.
Last night she was wide awake after a couple of diaper changes so I had to wait her out and then nurse her back to sleep. But normally, poopy diapers to the exception, she just nurses and passes right back out at night, no intervention required.
Hadley will nurse off both sides after she wakes from her first stretch of sleep (usually 5-8 hours). She will usually go right back to sleep, but when she wakes about 2.5 hours later she likes to stay awake. lol She doesn't fuss, she is just wide eyed and smiling. She is ready to party. That's hard at 5 am!!
Liam barely eats at night. when he wakes up (usually only 2 times) he sucks for a few minutes basically just long enough to get a couple swallows then pops off and falls back asleep leaving me gushing all over the place
when he was on a growth spurt though last week he was eating one boob every 2 hours
