So I dont really know how to describe what Liam does other than a hyper freakout. He will be eating and pop off like he has to burp or whatever but then immediately start rooting again so I turn him back to my breast and he starts freaking out he waves his arms and kicks and mouths my nipple and spits it back out and grabs at me and breathes fast like he's excited. So I move him away again to pick him up and he starts rooting again and if I take him away from the breast he cries. He does this a few times before finally latching back on when he will then eat again for anywhere from a minute to 10. I have no idea what it's all about. Has anyone else experienced this or know why he is doing it.

ETA
He doesnt seem upset when he does this more like he's playing or over excited, but I think he is too young to be playing.

When he does that, if you try to burp him does it work? Aubrey always looks startled when she pulls off and needs to burp. Sometimes she will root while I'm burping her, but a couple of pats later she'll still let out a big burp.

Kira just started doing the same thing. She'll flail and kick and punch and headbutt me hard in the chest. Most of the time I can't get her to latch back on. I have no idea what it's about -- she just started doing this a couple of days ago.

Are you spraying when he does it? Sounds like he's frustrated. Either he wants a letdown or he is having trouble with it.

Brayden does this when he's nursed for awhile and there is nothing left and he's tired and trying to pacify himself to fall asleep. He'll pop off then on and flail around and make what I call his "pirahna" grunts and face where he is literally flinging his head back nad forth and trying to eat my boob. Literally!. I will usually remove him from the breast and walk around with him upright to calm him. Then he forgets about it and calms down.

Yeah, exactly!! Do you ever give him a bottle or anything to keep feeding him when this happens, or just let him freak out? Kira has dropped off nursing as much, too, so the combination of less time nursing plus freaking out when I try to nurse her has me concerned that she's not eating enough (though I'm probably worrying needlessly since she still has a lot of dirty diapers).

Bryson has started to pop off a lot and spitting up a lot.
I am acually trying a Chiropractor for him, I have heard it helps with simple breastfeeding & digestive issues.
Its even been known to help babies with reflux

Veronica does this all the time. She either has a burp or I switch her to the other breast.

JR does this too. It usually means he wants to burp or he's super tired and wants to suck but not get milk.

Jax always did that when there wasn't anything there. Try compressing your breast to initiate your letdown again.

well he still does it sometimes, but not as much. It seems to not be the same thing bothering him every time so I just try different things until he settles down. Who knows babies can be so weird lol
