I know some people don't start baby food until 6 months (and I didn't with karmen as per recommendation at the time) but I will most likely start blakely on avocadoes, bananas, cereal in a few weeks when she's 4 months. She eats a ton and already seems to be interested in our food when we are all at the table. She stares at me and licks her lips. LOL.

Anyway I found this great site for recipes. I'm going to buy a stick food blender which I've read is the easiest and fastest clean up.

NurtureBaby - Homemade Baby Food Recipes - 4-6 Months Baby Food Recipes

I will probably just buy regular ice cube trays at walmart instead of the expensive baby food ones and then transfer to freezer bags and label after frozen. When I go to the farmers market tomorrow I'm going to stock up and make some tomorrow. Each bag should be good for about 3 months. I want to start while I'm interested. I'm afraid if I wait until shes 4-6 months old, I will be too tired from working. I still have a few days of leave left that I want to make the most of.

Who else is planning on making your own baby food? I'll probably just stick to fruits and vegetables and buy the meat ones store bought later on.

I think I will probably just buy my baby food but I don't think I will start until atleast 6 monhs. Jacob doesn't even pay attention when we are eating right now so I'm thinking he won't be ready until 6 months or later.

Let us know how it goes when you do start making your own food.

We are deff going to make our own! HD is dead set on buying this thing called "The Baby Bullet" ... I guess its like a blender thing meant specifically for making baby food. We are likely going to wait till hes at least 6 months. Logan seems almost more then satisfied with his formula.

I have the Baby Bullet! It is amazing for making smoothies for me. It is exactly like a blender only smaller (ie. perfect smoothie size.) It comes with a set of ice cube trays, a bigger jar for making multiple batches at once, and a set of little cups for refrigerating with date dials on them.

My SIL used a Bullet to make her own baby food. She usually just threw a bit of the dinner she had made for the family in the Bullet with a bit of water to thin it down. My nephew loved it. I will most likely be doing the same thing.
Beachbabies likes this.

I will be buying my food...more out of convenience that anything. We bought food for Jack and that worked just fine, so I will just stick to the same thing. I am going to be starting Sofia on solids at 4 months. My son was on Gerber 1st foods at just under 4 months.

I am going to try to make some. But I barely get anything done as it is. I tried with Slater and didn't stick with it. He didn't like baby food. More than likely I will buy and make it. He is very interested in us eating and has a huge appetite. So I will see at four months how he does. If he's not ready I will follow his lead.

I will most likely buy it from the store. It's just easier when I work full time. I feel that baby food is more just to experience different foods and textures before a year.

We do baby led solids, so I will start him at 6 months or later with sliced avocado. Then, add more foods sliced, chunked, mashed, etc. I don't do purees, I did make them with Lily, but she had table food by 9 months. Never did purees with Vi. I make all the food. I only do solids in small amounts 1 time a day after 6 months until they are a year.

I made all Madison's food. We lost power for a week and I gave her 1 jar of store bought and it gave her the smelly runs.

I will make his as well. I still have all the baby food containers. Its not to hard I make a month or 2 at a time and deep freeze it.

I plan to start him way after 6 months... as close to a year as possible.
