We had Kira's 9-month wellness visit today!

Head circumference: 45 cm (80.33 percentile)
Height: 28″ (64.75 percentile)
Weight: 20 lbs 12 oz (86.02 percentile)

Only one shot today (Hep B). She also got a small toe prick to take blood for anemia testing. She didn’t mind the toe prick at all but protested loudly about having her toe squeezed to have the blood come out.

In general, she's doing great. She has a heat rash on her back which the doc thinks is from a polyester sweatshirt she wore the other day when I was at Stroller Strides. Oops!

We're to start giving her more table food and go up to purees 3 times a day (we'd been doing 2). We can also start giving her water in a sippy cup for practice.

I talked to the doc about her sleep issues and we're going to try turning the baby monitor way down so that I only hear it if she's really crying. We'll see if that helps...this waking up 5-6 times a night (me, I mean) is getting pretty rough.

That's about it! She's doing really well, hitting milestones, being a little nut.

I did the turning down of the baby monitor a few weeks ago, and it works well for us!

Awesome visit for Kira! She is a healthy girl! Everytime I bring up food the pedi always act like its not important. I wish mine were more specific about how much to feed him. Luke has his nights where he is up every hour and some where he sleeps perfect. I think turning down the monitor is a great plan!

Great well visit.

Sleep is not so great here. He has been not falling asleep until close to 10pm and then I stay up until like 12 because that is my only time to get anything done and then he wakes 4-5 times and then finally gets up about 6am for the day.

Sounds like she is doing great. We go through phases with sleep. He will sleep great for a few days then up all night long. Let me know how the turning the monitor down works for you.

The monitor thing is a bigger issue, so I haven't started it yet. Basically, the situation is that hubby and I sleep in separate bedrooms because we have wildly different schedules. He's often up until 3 or 4am and then sleeps until 11am. He also snores and tosses and turns, so if we sleep together, it's not very restful for me.

Anyway, this is only a problem because we have two usable bedrooms in the house. He's been sleeping in the master bedroom while Kira and I are sleeping in the guest bedroom.

So, in order to put Kira in her own room (the guest bedroom), I have to start sleeping in the master bedroom with hubby. If the monitor is also on in there, he won't sleep well, which makes him very grumpy (understatement).

So I have no idea what the heck to do. If I sleep in the same room as K, I don't sleep (she woke up 10 times last night; I kept count). If I sleep in the same room as hubby, I don't sleep and he's a jerk all day. I feel pretty screwed no matter what.

Sorry for the rant.

Oh No 10 times. is she wanting to eat everytime or just wanting some comfort? Is she getting more teeth in? Jacob has been extremely grumpy lately and I think his top front tooth is starting to come in.

Can you sleep on the couch? LOL I know that would suck but maybe you could get some sleep. I hear you on the snoring. My DH is a loud snorer. Although I can just push him and he will usually turn over and stop snoring thankfully.

Most of the times she wakes up, she'll either go right back to sleep (after making enough noise that I wake up too) or she'll fall back to sleep if I rub her back for a minute or two.

Once a night lately, around 2am, she'll wake up and sit up and be very upset that she's awake. It's like she can't figure out that she can just lie back down. Sometimes then I have to comfort-nurse her to go back to sleep. She doesn't cry, really, she just sits up and does this "muh muh muh muh" sleepy upset snuffle. I've tried ignoring it but she can do it for over an hour and by that point, I'm wide awake and figure I may as well nurse her since that'll put her right back to sleep.

Going to try sleeping in the master bedroom with hubby tonight. I figure even his snoring can't be worse than Kira's chattering at me a billion times per night.

Oh, and her anemia test came back normal, yay.

SHe sounds like she is doing great

I'm debating taking Archer to his 9 month. So many people are sick around here. I feel like the doctor office is full of germs. They split the waiting room for well and sick patients. But germs can spread in a room.

How did last night go? Did hubby keep you up snoring? How did Kira do?

I hope you got some sleep. Jacob went to bed last night at 8:00 and was back up at 11:30, but he was hungry, he ate then went back to sleep until 5:00 am when he woke up to eat then wanted to play. He is finally starting to sleep a little bit better.

I don't want to jinx it but last night went well!

Kira woke up SCREAMING about 20 minutes after we put her to bed. We let her cry for about 15 minutes but she had no signs of stopping and it wasn't a babble but a full on scream, so I went in and soothed her. After I put her back to bed, she slept soundly until 3am!

She only did a little babble at 3am, so I ignored it. She wanted to eat around 5:30am, which was fine, and she's still sound asleep now at 8:30am!

I slept pretty well. Hubby did snore a little but not too bad. Though I had forgotten about the cats!! They were so excited to see me that they both slept on my face all night. So that wasn't super-restful.
