Has your baby started clapping or waving yet?

Jacob just started clapping last week and it is the cutest thing ever. If you clap he will start clapping and laughing really hard. Cracks me up. He doesn't wave yet. he will move his arms around but not really waving.

Yep. She will do it if you ask her to now. The "on command" started this past week.

Yes! Kira just started clapping last week. I choose to believe it's an affirmation of whatever I'm doing ("great job on that diaper change, mom!" "I sure like this ball you bought, mom!").

I'm surprised the pediatrician said that. Kira only started clapping less than a week ago and she's nearly 10 months. At least two of the other kids in her playgroup aren't doing either yet and neither mom mentioned any concern at all.

Ashley my 3 year old didn't start clapping until very late. I know it was after 12 months. And now he is very advanced for his age in his learning. His teachers have been wanting me to have him tested to see if he's gifted so I don't think I would worry about the fact that Luke is not clapping or waving.

Yeah the pediatricians comment made me mad. I don't know why she said that. I was never worried about it. I never thought clapping and waving were a big deal, but she just acted weird about it and kind of made me mad. So thats why I was sarcastic about it, lol. I am 99% sure I am finding a new doctor. I am just so over all of these comments about what hes doing.

I would find a new dr also. It's hard enough being a first time parent without having your dr make you second guess everything. You need a dr who is going to be supportive and reassuring.
