We spent the past weekend in South Lake Tahoe with some of our longtime Apple friends. Hubby usually does an annual week-long trip with the guys, but this year everyone was pretty busy and so we did a shorter "family" trip instead. Between the adults and kids, there wound up being 19 of us!

We stayed at Harvey's casino, right at the California/Nevada state line, and the guys went snowboarding at Heavenly. Kira and I hung out with a couple of the other moms-of-small-kids at Heavenly Village, where we held down the fort by eating ice cream and drinking beer. A rough life!

Overall, Kira did very well on the trip. She got very sick of being in the carseat and loudly protested a few times on the drive there and back, but that's to be expected. I was sick of the car too!

Blah, blah, enough words. People just want photos. Here they are!

Kira's turn to drive:

All ready for the cold! It was in the 30s during the day:

I think this bear was the lodge's mascot (or else some really creepy guy wandered in off the street). Kira would look waaaaay up at him and smile and say "da da!!". I tried to explain that not all super-tall fuzzy things are da da, but she wasn't buying it.

Outside Heavenly:

Yesterday, Kira and I drove up the east coast of Lake Tahoe for a bit while hubby was on the hill. We got out and walked around a vista area for a little while:

Cute baby butt!

Enjoying a french fry on our way home this afternoon:

Looks like you guys had alot of fun. Love the one where Kira is driving the car. Your husband is really tall.

We went to Destin, FL last fall and Jacob got very grumpy in the car towards the end also. We kept having to stop and take breaks just to get him out of the car seat. I thought we were never going to get there.

Hubby is tall -- 6'4". I'm only 5'1" though.

Yeah, it was a loooong drive back yesterday. She slept quite a bit but when she was awake, she was yelling. It seems like it'll be easier when she can walk because then she can walk around at rest stops; we were right on the interstate so there wasn't really anywhere that I could let her crawl. Too much broken glass, trash, etc on the ground.

Here's a funny video of her "driving" yesterday; not sure how to embed video here so you may just have to click the link.

Love the video. I also watched the one where she riding the roomba. That one is hilarious.

Trips will get easier once she is forward facing. We have a DVD player in our van and Jackson does really good on trips because he can just sit there and watch tv. These little guys that are rear facing get so bored because there is nothing to look at.

For a while, she called everything dada (me, the cat, furniture, etc) but now it's only tall things.

Including breaks, it took us about 4.5 hours to get to Tahoe on Friday but by Monday, Kira was WAY sick of being in the car seat, so it took us almost 6 hours to get home.
