What do you do when baby wakes up in the middle of the night? Do you let baby cry a few minutes before going to get baby? Do you immediately get up and check on baby? Do you try to feed baby or do you just let baby cry until baby goes back to sleep? Do you think that most of the time when our babies wake up in the middle of the night it is because they are hungry?

This is an argument that DH and I have been having. Jacob had been sleeping through the night but the past week or so he has been waking up in the middle of the night. Well we used to take turns getting up and feeding Jacob because that was usually the reason he was waking up. Well now DH just wants to let Jacob cry a few minutes and see if he will go back to sleep on his own. Well last night he tried this and DH wouldn't get up and feed Jacob. Jacob cried for a few minutes so I got up and of course he was hungry so I fed him and Jacob went right back to sleep.

Right now we go in immediately but, to be honest, it's not really working. Sometimes Kira is hungry and feeding her will put her back to sleep, but other times she's waking up 5 times a night.

We're going to start trying to wait a couple of minutes to check on her, gradually increasing the time (basically the Ferber method) and see if that helps. It really seems like lately, she just wants to be soothed.

we still co sleep and breastfeed so he starts in his crib right neext to my bed and when he cries i usually try sticking the paci in once but it pretty much never works so I pick him up and once he latches we both go right back to sleep and then he usually stays in my bed and nurses off and on the rest of the night.

We are still co sleeping and I put him in his pack n play on and off. Nights like last night SUCK and it seems to be more common than not with him .
I put him to bed at 8:00 slipped him in the pack n play so he wouldnt fall off the bed.
I went to bed at 10:00 and about 1:15 before I was even asleep he woke up. I nursed him back to sleep and I feel asleep... about every 30-45 mins he woke up. Then at 2 he woke up and would not go back to sleep and was fussing so I left the room and went to his room to rock him I keep falling asleep but he was wide awake so I came down stairs and he played until almost 5am. He was up every 30-45 mins until he got up for the day at 7:00
I am one tired momma.... john will not get up with him or watch him on his days off so I can nap

Lindsey I don't know how you do it. I think I would kick DH's butt if he wouldn't help at all especially on his days off. I know I complain when Jacob is up 2 or 3 times a night but I know I shouldn't complain because that is nothing compared to how many times Bryson is getting up.
