Ok, so my "big week" is OVER!!

We had the fetal echo-cardiogram this afternoon and all looks good!
All the arteries are there, pulmonary veins are all good, valves, cord blood, placenta, all
And no hypertrophy!!

So we're done with u/s until birth.

The little guy was giving the tech hell. They took an hour to do it, lol
And he kicke the hell out of the probe too

The only "weird" thing was that when we saw the cardiologist (same that does the follow up for Max) she said we'll do another one at 6 weeks (like Max) after birth or (and get this) we won't if the baby is neve born
I almost laughed out loud!! And I think she saw it in my face and she promptly said "but his heart is perfect... It's just that there's so much that can happen and I only get to see the heart"
IDIOT

What is a fetal echo-cardiogram?? Is that just another term for the Anatomy Scan??

I'm glad that everything looks good! But, how rude of her to say that to you!! I wonder how long she's been doing her job...

Wow, clearly she is not a mother or she would not have said that. She could have just simply left it at 6wks after the birth. It was not necessary to add the last part. Glad it went well though.

I can't believe she'd say that. I'm so glad everything's fine!!! And a fetal electrocardiogram (correct me if I'm wrong) is checking the heart, arteries/veins while the baby is in utero.

Yep, but it's an echo-cardiogram because an electro-cardiogram measures the electrical impulses and this one is a very detailed u/s on the baby's heart and arteries.
The reason we had it done is because DH was born with one of the walls of his heart thicker than the other (called hypertrophic condition) and the dr's want to make sure everything is fine.
So we know that his heart, arteries, blood flow in and out of the cord and placenta is all good. So are the pulmonary arteries.

Usually, you get this done if there is a congenital heart defect in the family (serious or not) or if one of your kids was born with a heart condition.

We had it done with our son too and so far, so good!

Oh and I came to realize it may be a cultural thing here (about the dr).
The more specialized and knowledgeable they are, the less human they become.

Our first OB with Max was a researcher in obstetrics at the "Harvard of Canada" (McGill) and she couldn't have been more rude or cold about pregnancy.
She said to us in the first visit that if the NT scan gave bad results I should abort immediately because "it is proven that a trisonomy is just a faulty egg and a woman can have many other pregnancies or perfectly fine babies"

DH almost punched her in the face... Idiot #1
Not only that but she asked me on the 2nd appt if I wanted to keep the baby (even though the NT scan was perfect!). Crazy b.

Yay! I'm so glad the fetal echo went well. What a relief! But I can't believe how rude the doctor was. I think you are right about the cultural/specialist thing. They do become less human. Congrats!
