Are you feeding your LO on demand or are you sticking to a schedule? I've been feeding on demand but wondering if a schedule would work better?

on demand.

If Adler is anything like DD he will probably fall into his own schedule eventually.

I too feed on demand.

It's easier for me to watch her cues than it is to watch the clock oddly enough.

On demand. I think the schedule will fall into place on it's own.

Schedule during the day, on-demand at night. We do every 3 hours during the day, but if she acts hungry sooner than that or if she sleeps a little later than that, I don't worry about being exact. At night, I feed her when she wakes up (which is usually 4-5 hours after the last daytime feeding, and every 3-4 hours after that).

On demand ...but he's already made a nice every 2 hour schedule for him self REGARDLESS of how much he might have eaten at the previous feeding! Hungry man!

I've been doing on demand but it pretty much made a schedule since he's been pretty consistent on it! It's every 2-3hrs during the day and will do anywhere from 5-6.5 hrs stretch at night (so one night feed depending on when that last feed is usually around 9:30 but sometimes if I feed at 11 I don't feed till am! Last night he gave me a 9hrs stretch from 9:30 to 6:30!!

On Demand. It's just easier. He's breastfed so sometimes he will eat a TON and sleep for four hours, other times he just wants enough to sleep and then is hungry again two hours later.

Demand - I guess. Demand sounds like such an ogre word though...I feed her when she tells me she needs me.

On demand for sure. You have to be categul with scheduling. scheduling infants feeding has been linked to failure to thrive.

On demand. He eats a LOT..I don't even bother timing it. When he fusses, I try to feed him first. 99% of the time it works like a charm.
Actually, I got the idea from an article I read..peaceful parenting: Breastfeeding in Mongolia
Quote:
Then I moved away from Canada, to Mongolia, where my husband was conducting a wildlife study. There, babies are kept constantly swaddled in layers of thick blankets, tied up with string like packages you don't want to come apart in the mail. When a package murmurs, a nipple is popped in its mouth. Babies aren't changed very often, and never burped. There aren't even hands available to thrust a rattle into. Definitely no tummy time. Babies stay wrapped up for at least three months, and every time they make a sound, they're breastfed.
I do change him often.. lol and I burp him on occasion (though he seems to burp himself more than I can ever get one out) but the article made sense to me.. I think there was another one that was similar to that as well that I've read, but I can't find it. Overall though, he seems to enjoy nursing for everything. When he wants to wake up, when he wants to go to sleep, when he's hungry, when he needs to poop (yes, he uses nursing to poop..lol) or just plain because.
Yep, I'm crazy

I FF but I pretty much feed him on demand, he's kinda starting to fall into a bit of a schedule now though. Offering a bottle is usually one of the first things I try when he's fussy too & it works about 80% of the time. I try to burp him but I don't have much success, & I change him before every bottle & when I notice he's wet.
