McKinley really started to coo and talk back to me, but past week she only coos a little bit and mainly she does this whining voice all day long... Any one else experiencing this? It's not so much she's upset it's just a whining noise she does. I can't get her to coo much. So I'm just a little worried. Will bring it up at her well month visit in 2 weeks if she is sill doing it.
Ethan did that too. When he turned about 3 months, he started cooing at me all the time for a couple of days. Then out of nowhere he stopped for a few weeks. Now for the past week or so he has been doing it all the time. It's probably nothing, but it wouldn't hurt to ask the dr about it. If your really uncomfortable, just call the dr office and ask one of the nurses about it. That is what I do, and they always either reassure me, or ask me to come in.
It's probably nothing, but definitely mention it. That can be early sign of autism. But like I said, it's probably nothing. Just gas or something.
I don't think autism. She is very cuddly and always gives eye contact and is very social still coos and squeals but just not as much now she's into the whining sound. I know a little one who has high function autism, known him since he was born, McKinley is far from that.
Luckily did some deep research online, turns out lots of babies can go through phases of that. They learn to do something with their voice and do it for awhile then move on to something else. Woll still mention to dr though.

My other kiddos did that. it's like they'd learn a skill (coo'ing), practice it a while, and then stop doing it while they worked on something else. eventually the coo'ing picked back up again. they continued this cycle with everything--learning to get up, crawl, walking, etc. it's like they focus all of their energy into the latest thing for a while.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, she is just learning that she has a voice and is experimenting with different sounds.
Raini does the exact same thing and Ive found it to mean she wants my attention, shes unhappy where she is and wants to do something else. when she starts whining try moving her to a new place, a swing or playpen, give her a different toy. or even just talking to her.
