I was able to sleep a lot this weekend, which was great since I didn't sleep well all week. I woke up early and went grocery/essentials shopping at two stores, and I also filled up the car with gas for the week. When I got home, I discovered that DH had completely cleared out the soon-to-be nursery. And he had done the dishes!
I've been finishing up laundry all day, and I'm making baked ziti for dinner. We're also watching the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Flyers are truly flying high in this series, which is totally unexpected. When I was upstairs, I could tell when they scored, thanks to DH's screams that could probably be heard from a half-mile away.
That's so sweet your husband did that all! I know you feel you gained some weight in your arms and stuff this week, but I don't see it. I do notice the slightly less bloating in your tummy you mentioned, though. Glad you got a bit of relief from the constipation!
Last night, I had my first dream about this baby, and it was definitely laden with anxiety.
I dreamed that I had just been home for a couple of days after giving birth. Our baby was awfully cute, though he didn't really look like either of us. Several people had come over to visit, but they were treating it more like a party and were not so much interested in the baby.
One of the people there was supposed to be my doctor, though it was a man (and my doctor is a woman). He asked me how the breastfeeding was coming along. And I just got a look of horror on my face and said, "I haven't even fed him yet." Like I forgot that I was supposed to actually feed the baby once I left the hospital.
So I went into a private room to feed him for the first time. I was so worried that he wouldn't latch on, but he did immediately. After a little bit, though, he stopped, even though I knew he was still hungry. So I switched him to the other breast, and he wouldn't latch on at all. I was so upset and kept trying to coax him.
Well, then, a really creepy thing happened. He actually started talking to me. And he asked, "What's wrong with this thing?" Like he was telling me that my BBs didn't work right.
Can you tell I spent several hours this weekend thinking about breast pumps, baby monitors, baby-proofing the house, etc.? It doesn't help that on Friday I had talked to a co-worker about trying to keep up breastfeeding when I return to work. I joked that I would have to go to our little supply closet when I need to pump, and we'd have to put a "do not disturb" sign on the door.
That is amazing and hysterical. I have already had two dreams that I forgot the baby somewhere. First time I was walking through like walmart or something like that and left the baby in the cart in the cart rack and drove away and the second time, I left the hospital and we left the baby in it's seat in the elevator and drove home.
Yikes, Crystal! Those kind of dreams would scare me, just because they seem so real. It's always such a relief to wake up from dreams like that.
I think anxiety dreams, especially for us first-time moms, are pretty common during pregnancy. I just haven't dreamed about this baby up until now. I had a dream about an ultrasound, but not the actual baby outside of my womb. And it was a doozy... so vivid!
At least mine was completely silly, though, so I didn't have that sinking feeling when I woke up like it had actually happened.
lol, that was a silly dream! I've loaned out my office to women at work who need to pump and others have used supply closets and bathrooms to pump (we don't have stalls, we have individual rooms). The problem is you need to be comfortable to get the best supply, so the women hate using the bathroom! I'm sure you'll find a way to keep up the breastfeeding once you go to work. You seem too stubborn and determined to not figure it out somehow!
I am a hungry, hungry hippo! Up until a few days ago, I've pretty much just had my normal pre-pregnancy appetite or a total lack of appetite (depending on the day). Since the weekend, though, I have been so darn hungry! I'm just trying to keep my snacking to healthy things.
I also think that I've found my constipation relief miracle! The Miralax has helped me "go" the past two days in a row. I dissolve the dosage in orange juice in the morning, and I feel relief about 6 hours later. It better not be a fluke. I am going to keep up this regimen and hope for the best!
It's getting really hot outside for our nightly walks. It's supposed to be in the mid-90s this weekend, so maybe we'll have to head out early in the morning on Saturday and Sunday. I'm so not looking forward to summer, well other than meeting my baby boy.
Miralax was not a miracle today. I think I'm going to only take it every few days, and maybe it will be more effective than taking it every day. It also weirds me out a little bit that it's a Category C drug. It's not Category C because it's shown any negative side effects. It's only labeled that because no studies have been done whatsoever regarding the effects on pregnant animals or women. Most doctors say it's perfectly fine to take because it doesn't absorb into the bloodstream. I was so cautious to not take anything during the first trimester, but I feel more at ease now. If it was working every day like magic, I would probably keep taking it. However, if it's not, then I might as well space it out.
DH was going to skip our walk tonight because the Flyers are playing what he hoped would be the last game of the series, but they are getting killed. So he urged me to go outside anyway. I've really been struggling with either gas or constipation side effects today, so I wasn't feeling that excited about it. I'm glad we went out though. It's good exercise, and it's a chance for us to catch up on our day.
This week has been a very annoying week at work, and I think it will continue through Friday. I'm excited, though, because I'm actually going to do something DIY this weekend (hopefully while DH is painting the nursery). I've purchased the materials to make these closet dividers. I'm matching them to our nursery theme. It's about as crafty as I get. They are totally unnecessary but really cute and cheap to make, and I figure that I can at least say I made one thing for our baby.
Sorry the Miralax isn't working every day. Hopefully every other day or every two days will be enough to let things build up and get it moving when you do take it.
Mix all together - I found that this amount is good for about 2 lbs of ground meat. Make it once and you'll know if you need to adjust up or down on anything!
This would be great on turkey tacos! Once you make it one time, you will know how to tweak it to best fit your tastes - I like mine a little hotter, so I even throw in some crushed red pepper some times!
I continue to have crazy dreams! And last night was rough because I had to get up four times to pee. I guess Jackson was nestled into my bladder again.
I scheduled our prepared childbirth class today. It's a total of nine hours, spread out over three consecutive Saturdays. The class starts on 6/9, so I'll be right at 30 weeks. I also signed us up for a "baby saver CPR" class. We're taking that on 5/15, as the woman who handles St. Jude's education center recommended that I do it sooner rather than later so I'll be able to still move around well enough. Successful completion of the class results in certification, which is pretty cool, so I want to be able to actually do everything that's required. Hopefully, I won't be too big in another four weeks to actively participate.
We also received our new crib mattress today, and the sheets we purchased fit perfectly! The mattress is also quite firm, without being hard as a rock. I think I made a good decision with it. Now I can't wait to get the room painted, the furniture assembled, and start really filling out the nursery.
You reminded me I need to check the childbirth class schedule at our city center!
My women's center encourages women to schedule by the 15th week, so I totally dropped the ball. They only had 1 slot left, so I'm glad I called when I did!
