OMG, Jessica! I didn't even realize you had your beautiful baby girl. Congratulations!
I used to be pretty good about checking the DDCs, but I've just been focusing on getting ready for everything in my household. I haven't been on JM nearly as much as usual, except the grads section here to post in my journal. So congrats again!
Those chubby cheeks are amazing! I hope you'll recover quickly. You have plenty of time to get things in order around your house after you're back to 100%.
I cannot believe I only have six weeks to go! I'm not going to post my weekly belly pics until tomorrow because I don't feel like showering and getting all ready. So we'll take them when I get home from work tomorrow.
I slept well last night, and I actually slept in until 7:15 this morning! I could hardly believe it. I am really tired today, though, so I'm not going to get much done. DH finished in the garage this morning. It's so empty now, and I love it! Now I just need to finish purging in the guest bedroom and kitchen, and we'll be in really good shape around here. We also have some other projects we'd like to get accomplished, but they're not a top priority. So we'll get to them when we get to them, even if it's after Jack is born.
This afternoon, I am going to work on a list of all the things we have left to do in the next 6 weeks, including placing them in priority order. We're getting closer and closer to being totally ready, and some of the things that will make the list are certainly things that could wait until after Jackson arrives. However, it's going to be a ridiculously busy time at work up until I go on maternity leave. I won't be able to take another day off because things are just too hectic, so having a list of things to accomplish on our off days will just make me feel a lot better. DH hadn't been in nesting mode at all up until recently, but now he's totally on board with getting things accomplished. Working as a team, we should be able to knock out that list in no time.
Now I'm heading upstairs to work a little bit on the guest bedroom. DH thinks I should just take it easy, but I want to feel like I accomplished something today.
Wow, you certainly are in nesting mode. You are getting so much done! I bet your to-do list is getting pretty small these days. I can't wait to feel all that energy again.
I cannot get over how much you are doing these days! I know i'm in a totally different place than you, but I can't imagine doing all this! (But I guarantee, when I am in my 3rd tri, I will want everything DONE, and DONE MY WAY, and NOW, so I will probably get it way more then....tired or not!)
I cannot wait to see Jackson's nursery totally complete!
Hope you have a good week at work...even though I know you have longer days, and are pretty busy. Just motor through best you can! xx
Today was a very long day after being on vacation for a week. My summer schedule is 7am to 5:30pm, but I ended up staying a little late this evening wrapping up a couple of things. And then I had to drop off the dry cleaning on my way home. So I did something I don't do very often - picked up fast food for dinner. Chick-fil-A. I wasn't actually very hungry, so I just had nuggets. So bad, yet so good.
Last night was rough because I had really, really bad heartburn in the evening. With the help of Tums, it was somewhat tolerable. However, when I tried to lie down, it got unbearable. I decided to stack up three pillows and prop myself up in bed. Of course, that didn't end up being very comfortable and I woke up repeatedly to acid in my throat, having pulled the top pillow down and switched to lying flat. I also got up nine times to go to the bathroom. I probably wouldn't have gotten up so much if I wasn't already half-awake from the heartburn.
I hope tonight is better. If not, though, with less than six weeks to go, I think I might be spending more and more nights on the recliner.
Sorry you had a rough night Hopefully the heartburn stays away tonight and you get a good night's sleep! Is there anything else you can take besides Tums?

This is exactly what I was going to say lol...

My doctor told me it was ok to take Pepcid for the heartburn. I've had pretty bad heartburn but have found that if I take one dose of Pepcid each day, the Tums seems to be able to manage the rest. Just Tums doesn't work for me anymore.
I know you don't like taking any medication, but it may be worth it for you to get better sleep since I can't imagine sleeping in a recliner would be very comfortable and you need your rest.
Thanks, girls. And, yes, Robyn, I am such a stickler about not taking any medications while pregnant. I just hate the thought of doing it in the home stretch. Up until recently, Tums has done the trick. On really bad nights like two nights ago, I think I'll take a Zantac. We have plenty of that in the house because DH has stomach/digestion/reflux issues.
Fortunately, last night wasn't so bad. I'll hope for more nights like last night and fewer like the other one.
That sounds like a good plan. My doctor has talked to me a lot about risks vs benefits when taking medication. Of course it's up to you to decide where that line is for you, but I'd think it's more risky for you to be getting a poor night's sleep than to take the Zantac.
I hope you get more nights like last night, too! As much as heartburn stinks, I still much prefer it to morning sickness!

Up until two nights ago, I would totally agree with you. However, that heartburn was so bad that it almost brought tears to my eyes. And I had that whole puking in the back of my throat thing going on. And when it's that bad, you almost feel like you can't breathe. If I can keep nights like that to a minimum, though, it is better than the 24-7 queasiness of m/s.
Oh no! I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with the heartburn. Perhaps Jack is going to have a lot of hair..? Apparently drinking a teaspoon of baking soda in 8 oz of water is supposed to help. It helped for one of the ladies in my DDC. It tastes awful, but it works And it's natural.
Oh, and thank you! I totally forgot to start a thread to announce that she was born, but her birth story is up in my DDC

I've had that feeling of puking in the back of my throat frequently, but not the being unable to breathe (at least not that I've been able to attribute to the heartburn vs asthma). That does not sound fun at all!
I am so sorry your heartburn has gotten so bad. I'm glad last night was better for you though. I am just now starting to get a taste of it myself...always at night, always about 30 min after dinner. I am eating pretty bland foods, and drinking milk, so it's always a shock. I get this scrunched up look on my face and DH says "that heartburny yuck again?" I have NEVER had it in my life, so this stinks. Mine probably isn't all that bad, so I can't even imagine it being as bad as yours. However, I am just like you...unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary I will avoid any and all meds. I don't even want to take tums..though it's getting to the point where I may have to.
Anyhow, blah blah, sorry for the hijack...but I hope that you are able to find some relief without having to turn to meds, or resign yourself to a recliner for the remainder...
At the beginning of the pregnancy, my only "medications" were prenatal vitamins, B6, and baby aspirin. I stopped the B6 after the first trimester. Then I stopped the baby aspirin after 32 weeks. Now it's just prenatal vitamins and the iron supplements that my doctor had me start.
Tums, however, became a staple sometime around halfway (maybe a little before). Since it is just extra calcium and really no other ingredient, I don't feel weird at all about taking it. I also ended up taking stool softeners on occasion, but I've mainly dealt with constipation. It's honestly not as bad later in pregnancy as it was in the beginning.
I look for natural remedies or just dealing with these things when at all possible, but I have become more relaxed about it the further along I've gotten. I still hate to take anything, but I'm not beating myself up about it if I have to resort to a Zantac or Miralax. And I've almost taken a Claritin a time or two.
As med-free as possible is definitely great. I had to give up on my idea of going med free early on but just try to make sure I'n extra vigilant about taking my prenatals and I also take 3x the recommended dose of fish oil since my doctor said that could help.
You are lucky that you are able to be med free! I tried to wean myself off Claritin and Benedryl but I was miserable and couldn't breathe and if I can't breathe then the baby can't either!
