I had a busy weekend. DH and I helped my brother move out of my parents' house and into an apartment. He doesn't have much stuff but we did that Saturday morning (I carried all of 2 things, and then held doors open for everyone ). I went back home Saturday afternoon while DH helped my dad with a side job. Took a nap, then went back to my parents' house until midnight

Sunday we were back at my parents' since it was my brother's move-in day. After he was all moved in with the last of his stuff we went to breakfast, then DH and my dad went back to their side job and my mom and I watched movies. It was nice but I hate being away from home all weekend, especially on Sundays when work is the next day. Oh well.

I'm kind of worried that I don't feel pregnant at all at the moment I didn't feel any more movement, which is fine, but even my uterus area feels empty. It's really freaking me out. I wish baby would just move every now and then so I can know for sure everything is ok. I cannot WAIT for it to be constant so I know if he's not moving then something might be wrong. Ugggghh. Just praying Friday shows my little baby bouncing away like last time

That's it for me. I have a 4-day work week this week, 4-day weekend, and then anotehr 4-day work week Come onnnnnnn Friday!

I went through the same thing at that stage. You think you're feeling a little bit of flutters, but you're not sure. And then you don't feel anything for a few days, so you doubt that you ever did feel something. And your symptoms start to fade, since it's the second trimester, which just increases your anxiety. That transition phase from the end of the first trimester until you start feeling definite movement can be a nerve-wracking time.

But then you'll see your little one at your scan and will hardly believe that he/she is moving THAT much without you feeling it. Even at 18 weeks & 2 days, our little guy was kicking his legs like a mad baby, and I couldn't feel a thing.

Hope Friday gets here fast for you and your worries can subside.

Thanks Adrienne, you really put my mind at ease
I thought I felt some flutters today but it might have been my mind "willing" myself to feel them

16 weeks, 6 days

Today work has me stressed beyond belief. I'm working on a book authored by a really important guy who is friends with the president of the company. Because of that, this author pretty much gets whatever he wants. Everything has to be to his exact specifications or he throws a fit, and every book of his has super tight deadlines because he expects it to publish 2 months after sending in materials..even though his books come in like CRAP.

So anyway, I thought my Hell was ending today because the advances were due and the books are printed and ready to ship to our warehouse. I get the advance copies, flip through one, and immediately want to cry. The maroon color that is used throughout the text has printed as every variation of brown to maroon to pink... it looks AWFUL. And you can tell the color differences just between 2 pages right next to eachother.

And of course my immediate boss is out on vacation until Monday, so I had to go to the head of the department (also the VP). I explain the situation to him and he has me go back to the printer and ask what happened and to check the remaining books before they ship. So I did that, and after an hour she finally responds with some BS crap answer about how "when you make a color like that there will be some slight variance and we think it's ok and if it reprints it will look the same." Slight variance my butt... So now I have to wait and see what the bosses want to do about it.

Ugh none of this is any of my fault, but it's just such an important book with a craptastic author who nitpicks everything, this is just the last thing I needed. And I don't complain about work often because I seriously LOVE my job, but today is just "one of those days"....

On the plus side, all of this BS is going to make my 4-day weekend that much sweeter

Today was our BIG ultrasound!!!
I am happy to announce that I am on team...

PURPLE!!

Here is what the tech got within seconds of starting the ultrasound:

I have to admit I was bummed, and of course DH was rubbing it in my face because he was right and I was not. The tech kept moving the wand trying to get the "potty shot" and we saw:

At first I was like, is that something between the legs?? And they confirmed. Then they kept poking around:

Sooo needless to say,

IT'S A FREAKING BOY!!!!

I was soooo elated!! I just KNEW boy and was shocked as all get-out when they said girl! DH was so bummed that we were told the wrong thing at first but he's still really excited about a boy I am over the moon right now!

We got a DVD as well as all of the pictures from our session, so when I play the video for my family tomorrow at our Easter get together, they are going to be so confused because the video says "It's a girl" and then "It's a boy" I can't WAIT to see the looks on their faces!!!

Anyway, I hope everyone has a super Easter weekend! I am just sooooo happy right now!!

So everyone and their brother knows we are having a boy now The reveal didn't go quite as planned (maybe because the DVD had such a long time between the "It's a girl" message and the "It's a boy" one, but the main message is out there and everyone is really excited!

My mom and I went to register at Babies R Us on Sunday. I was going to have DH come but he REALLY doesn't care much about this stuff, so I feel like all he would do is complain and/or annoy me. I'm not at all picky about what I picked either, but I have everything other than a glider and the crib on the registry right now. I'm not going to register for matching dressers or anything because a) nothing in my house matches and b) I could get something cheaper that will serve the same purpose.

My mom and I were there for THREE HOURS and my feel and back were KILLING me! I'm so glad I was able to take care of this at 17 weeks and not when I'm bigger/more uncomfortable! The amount of stuff you need (or might need) is overwhelming! So far the only super expensive thing I registered for was a $300 breast pump, which is a biggie for me because I need to pump while I'm at work and I'd LOVE it to last through all of my babies. The other stuff I tried to go for the least expensive item that still had good reviews. Like I said, I'm not picky and don't care about patterns matching, I just want a chance to get as much as possible at the shower (and I mean that in the LEAST greedy-sounding way!) Besides, if we don't get everything we want or need, DH and I will be footing the bill for the rest of the stuff, so I won't have to check out reviews for the cheaper-priced things we picked

All in all, it was an exhausting weekend. I took a vacation day yesterday and just parked on the couch the ENTIRE day (minus the time I spent going to GIANT to get some half-priced jelly beans ).

In baby news, Jordan has been moving around more, but it's still not constant. I have been feeling him daily, even if only for a little bit, so that is good!

Registering at BRU thoroughly annoyed me, though our experience wasn't at all bad and took us only 1 1/2 hours. I had made a list of all the items to add the day before, and I took that with me to the store. Since you mainly want to put things on the registry that they have in store. I was so disappointed at the number of things they didn't have in the actual store (or any stores around us).

For example, the high chair we wanted was only $70 because we just don't need all the bells and whistles. At our BRU, the least expensive high chair they had was $120. I think they do this on purpose, since they know most people will buy in store and not online.

Long story short (not really), we also have a registry on Amazon.com, where the prices are generally less, the selection is more, and shipping is free on most items.

Glad you're finished (and me too)!

I didn't have a problem with prices. With the high chair for example, I went with the $60 one that sits in a regular chair and converts for infant, baby, and toddler booster seat. We don't have a lot of space and it's just me and DH right now so I can't see adding a chair to the table when there are already 4 for 2 people.

I didn't find anything else to be too over priced and I thought there was a decent selection. Maybe each store is different? The only thing I found to be outrageous were the gliders. I can find the same thing for half the price at Target or something.

But yes, glad we are both done our registries

FWIW, I know you're done registering, but wanted to add my brother and SILs experience. They felt the same way about their BRU. They ended up registering at Amazon for most of their stuff, and they were more than happy to do so. Even things they found and registered for at BRU, people bought at Amazon anyway. They also got that same type of high chair that sits in a chair, then "grows" with the baby. Same thing - it's just the 2 of them, and they live in a small house in a big city, so don't have the extra room either. They LOVE it.

Also, gliders. Me and SIL were shopping on a family trip last fall, and went to a baby store. She found her "perfect" glider - and it was like a bazillion dollars! They had been looking for months, and while they found many she liked, they were all SO freakin expensive. (And for the record, both her and my bro make really good $$$ but they, on principle, didn't want to spend that much.). She said she must have sat in 50 chairs and gliders. You know what? She ended up going to La-Z-Boy and getting a good ol' fashioned recliner. And she loves it!

Hi!

Thanks for the tips, Karin!

Since my mom hasn't sent out any shower invites yet, I think this weekend I will spend some time comparing what is on my BRU registry with what is on Amazon and making another registry there. I am ALL FOR people saving money, which is why I didn't want to register for super expensive things when there are cheaper options that are just as good (other than the breast pump...)

Hopefully I will be all done with registering soon, and then I will never have to think about it again until July

Just like BRU, the Amazon registry also provides the 10% fulfillment thing for the registree. Pretty sweet.

18 weeks

I learned the hard way that Jordan does NOT like chocolate. Rather, he doesn't like when I have chocolate. I noticed the past 3 days I have been incredibly gassy and have extreme gas pains starting in the morning and lasting most of the day. While I don't have the urge to fart, my gut has been making farting noises and growling...while at work...in a super quiet office.

This morning I got to work, made my morning eggos in the toaster oven, and then ate. About 15 minutes later, the gas pains started. This week has been the first time I had these pains, and I've been eating eggos every morning for a month now. I just realized that 3 days ago I opened the box of chocolate chip eggos and have been taking them to work. I was fine with plain, cinnamon, blueberry, and strawberry, but the choco ones must be the culprit!! I'm sad that I'm still in pain right now but sooo happy that I (hopefully) figured out what's causing it! I'll know for sure tomorrow when I bring in blueberry eggos instead!

And that's the extent of what's going on with me. Tomorrow a few coworkers and I are doing a potluck for lunch . Then this weekend I will be finalizing my registry and CLEANING THE HOUSE! It needs it baaad and I've been sooo lazy! I also need to file my local taxes. I should be getting all of this done Saturday so I can sit on my behind alllll day Sunday

I meant to update the last 2 days but had a shortened lunch at work and didn't have time to read journals and post to my own, so I just read.

This weekend I did manage to clean the house () and I am sooo glad I did! Now I just need to keep up with it every week and I won't feel like a dirty hooker when I see my house. I filed my local taxes on Monday, so everything on my to-do list has been done.

Last night I had a checkup appointment. The nurse practitioner was able to find Jordan's heartbeat right away Although I am surprised at how high he is! My uterus is just below/behind my belly button. I guess that explains why my belly looks like it popped and I can't suck in anymore. At all.

The nurse also gave me a form to fill out for preregistering at my hospital, so I just need to do that a throw it in the mailbox. I also got a paper so I can schedule my anatomy scan and see Jordan again I will just be relieved to know that everything looks good (and that he is still a he ) I'm going to try to get that for next Friday, but we'll see..

Not much else in baby news. I haven't been feeling Jordan as much since my uterus has moved up behind some belly fat. I'm hoping within the next couple of weeks the movement becomes constant.
