My mom is excited as well. It's her first grandchild.

And yeah...they keep you in here forever! One of the 2000 reasons I didn't want to go to a hospital. Oh well! Things don't always go as planned!

Which of you ladies are buying me a sparkly black tutu for Michi? He'll look silly in this tiny leotard by itself...

Wow! So that's a normal hospital stay?! I can't imagine! I understand you wanting to avoid if now!

I'm with Karin. No tutus for boys! You'll just have to have a little girl for that!

I have a few days away from here and I miss this amazing news! Congratulations Jack! I'm so glad that michi arrived safe and sound, albeit he is so tiny! I bet he is just sooo cute! I can just hear how unbelievably happy you are with your new family, I hope all three of you get to go home soon!

P.s. The smuggled food note made me

The funny thing is, Japanese hospital food is actually really good, they just aren't giving me much! Building me back to solids gradually. I'm so hungry!

Those mean people not feeding you enough! They should know that a new mummy needs her strength (altho its prob not a bad idea to go easy following a c/s)

I can't imagine having good hospital food, its sucks over here in the UK!

That really is a long stay, they must like spending extra time with all those cute new babies!

I'm going insane in here! I'm feeling kinda depressed and angry and I want OUT! Michi is doing good, though. Feeding him is hard because he's so small & sleepy, but he's off his IV now. They are supplementing him with milk which REALLY depresses & stresses me out, but I'll do anything to make sure they don't try keeping him here past Thursday. After we're out I'm not letting anyone do anything to him ever again! Stuff against my wishes, I mean. But the milk is helping him gain weight fast, which I guess in his case is a good thing. He's already up to almost 5 lbs. The only thing keeping me from having a hormonal breakdown is that they seem to be supplementing a lot of these babies, yet most women in Japan breastfeed, so there is hope. I'll just have to keep at it.

Today is Saturday and then Monday is a holiday, so Hiro will be able to be here much of the day for three days in a row. Then I just have to get through the 9th and the 10th...going home on the 11th as long as nothing else happens.

My BP is still high, but lately it's only the bottom number. They took urine & blood today, so we'll see what those results look like. The swelling in my legs is gone and I've lost about 7kg.

I'm really unhappy in here because I want to be home with my family. Trying not to sit & moan about it, but I'm totally in that place right now.

I'm sorry that the hospital stay is so rough on you. I'm glad that you and Michi are doing so well. I'd be upset about the supplementing, too, but that is reassuring that, despite the supplementation, most Japanese women are able to successfully breastfeed. So glad to hear he's off the IV and that Hiro will be able to keep you company over the long weekend!

My milk came in! Ouch!

I'm relieved, though. Was worried about it not happening.

Yay for your milk coming in! Mine came in with a vengeance too. Hope you'll be able to successfully BF Michi as you transition out of the hospital. Hang in there.

I know I'll be expressing into a bottle for awhile until he gets a little bigger, but the good thing is he does try to nurse, it's just hard work for him still so he gets frustrated after a certain point. But now that I have the milk, they can reduce the formula they're giving him and eventually stop that all together, which is another relief!

The excellent thing is they're massaging and expressing some milk for me, and this morning I also used a pump for the first time. I suppose this is the one good thing about a long hospital stay...and the food of course. Anyway, I'm gonna be able to replace Michi's formula in no time! Just from what I pumped in ten minutes I'm up to about half a bottle. They say I should be careful not to overdo it though or the engorgement will just get worse faster. Gotta stick with a happy medium.

And the pump really makes your nipples come out! Another good thing because mine are a little short.
