Well, neither Bert nor I slept well last night, so Bert decided he wants to go out to dinner on Friday instead of tonight. He's planning to go straight to bed when he gets home. Maybe I'll try to talk him into seeing a movie on Friday, too.
Jess, my next appt is May 15th. I'm having my NT scan and then an appt right after.
It took 45 minutes for me to get the bleeding to stop last night. I ended up sleeping with a towel under my head in case it started up again last night. I'm running the humidifier at home whenever I'm home now and I also read that it can help to keep the nose from drying out, so I'm using Q-tips to put a little Vaseline. I think it's helping a bit. It's easier for me to breathe through my mouth, but that's not good for my lungs. However, breathing through my nose isn't going to help me prevent nose bleeds if the air is dry! Oh, well!!
My friend is letting me borrow a book of hers that she loved called Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: How to Calm, Connect, and Communicate with Your Baby. She said it was really helpful to her with learning what her baby's cries meant and getting her baby on a schedule so I'm really looking forward to reading it!
So sorry about the nosebleed! Yikes! I know that my nose has been ridiculously dry since pretty early on in the pregnancy. I can only imagine how much it's compounded for you. Do live you somewhere with humid summers? We don't usually hope for humidity, but I'll be hoping that will help you.
That books sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out.
Yeah, the summers do get somewhat humid here. Not nearly as humid as when I lived in TN, but enough that it should help keep me from getting too dried out. Although, being as pregnant as I will be by the time the heat of summer comes around (and with the increased sensitivity to heat I have with the pregnancy) I may be using the AC more!
Yeah, I do have a humidifier. DH took it out of the bedroom for some reason a few weeks ago, but he brought it back in. I was only running it when sleeping, but yesterday I started running it when I got home. I think that and the Vaseline are helping. It feels less dry today.
I started reading Secrets of the Baby Whisperer last night. I think the advice is good, but I don't like her tone. She's trying really hard to make sure we know she's English. She calls the reader love and ducky. I have an ex who I was with for three years and he was English. I spent a fair amount of time in England during this relationship and nobody that I met talked like this lady does. If you're able to read past that, I think the book is good.
I'm so happy that the placenta is taking over. I'm feeling so much better (aside from the allergy and asthma stuff). Yesterday I tried vacuuming the house and could only do one room at a time since I got too out of breath and had to take a break after each room. I keep forgetting to buy the balloons I need to do the breathing exercises my doctor wants me to do.
It is such a good feeling to be able to talk to other people about my pregnancy. I think I'll do my Facebook announcement this weekend. Bert still hasn't told his paternal grandmother about the baby, but he's seeing her this weekend when he goes to a Red Sox game (she lives just outside Boston so he stays overnight with her so he can drink). I just have to figure out a cute way to do the post since I don't have a recent ultrasound. I was thinking of maybe trying to find one of those take boards they show people using for movies and filling that out with the information since this is "Baby G. Take 2" and hold it in front of my belly.
Thanks, ladies! I didn't know where around her to get one and I ended up ordering one from Amazon. I hope it gets here soon! Apparently they are called clapper boards.
... so sorry you had the nose bleeds. I had one nosebleed too, definitely a pregnancy thing. But mine was a one time thing and didn't last long, so I hope you get better soon, and hope the humidifier helps!
The reindeer outfit came in today!!! It was way too cute! Even cuter in person because it's soooo teeny tiny! I can't believe I'm going to have one of those in a few months!
Other than that not a whole lot went on today. I'm not feeling very well. I think I'm not getting enough sleep at night. I'm going to try to go to bed at a decent time tonight. I haven't gone to sleep before 11 at all this week and I just can't do that when I'm pregnant. I took a nap for a couple of hours when I got home so hopefully between that and going to bed at a decent time I'll be okay.
Tomorrow is Friday!! I hope I feel better so DH and I can do our dinner out!
We'll see. I've been fighting off a migraine since yesterday afternoon. It's not a migraine yet, but I stayed home and slept 15 hours and still feel the migraine knocking at my door.
Lol, thanks! Tylenol and caffeine helped a little bit, but it's still here. I don't think I'll trust myself to handle being out. I can only stand to look at things for a couple of minutes before it gets worse again. How is your headache?
My headache was gone this morning. I don't get headaches that frequently. The winter was rough, since I wasn't taking allergy meds. I would get a headache every afternoon. Yesterday's was just ridiculous, like my head was splitting completely open. So glad it's gone today.
On a completely unrelated note, but definitely related to pregnancy symptoms... My BBs (especially nipples) have been incredibly itchy lately. I lather them up with body butter and Bio-Oil every day, but I find myself just scratching them all the time. It's not a pretty sight at work.
I asked the BTDT moms in my DDC if they had the same problem and were able to find anything that relieved it. One woman said that Vagisil was the only thing that helped. She said that she was itchy everywhere with her first pregnancy. And she specifically mentioned that when she was at work, she would chafe and itch between her thighs. She said that she was in agony and on a whim tried Vagisil on the chafing area. She said it worked wonders!
Just something to think about if you want to start wearing dresses/skirts as your belly grows. I know that dresses are the only thing I'm truly comfortable in right now, and I can't imagine having chafing between my legs and not being able to wear them.
