6 weeks 5 days
I still can't stop thinking about Bowie and his little beating heart. I keep looking at the pictures and replaying the moment the ultrasound technician pointed out the flicker of the heartbeat. I think that was one of the best moments in my life so far.
I've noticed a big difference in Bert after seeing the heartbeat. He was excited about the pregnancy before, but now it's just a whole other level of excitement. He waited until we saw the heartbeat to tell his family, but couldn't wait another two hours for me to get home before telling them! He's now kissing and rubbing my belly again, like he did when I was pregnant before, but hadn't until yesterday. I didn't want to say anything because I figured he was just feeling the fear that I was feeling.
He was so funny last night. He looked at the ultrasound again and pointed out the little nub that is beneath the baby at the bottom of the sac and said something along the lines of "I bet that thing means that the baby is a boy!" I laughed and told him that the poor thing would have a penis that's way too big if that's the case! I had to give him a hard time about wanting a boy so much, but then he went on to talk about why it would be wonderful to have a girl, too.
I forgot to mention yesterday that my OB said that she's encouraged so far by how this pregnancy is going. That said, before we try for a second baby she wants me to get the testing to determine for sure if I have a progesterone problem or not. That's definitely a proactive OB!
I'm off to go stare at my baby some more.

My DH definitely changed a bit, too, after seeing our baby for the first time. It just makes it so much more real.

I'm sorry, I am just catching up now. Yay!!!! That is such good news you get to see the heartbeat! I am so happy for you!
I can imagine that for the guys that the experience is totally different until they actually see the baby; it's probably more real at that time.

6 Weeks 6 Days
I can't believe I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow! I didn't actually believe I'd get this far when I first got pregnant again.
Still much of the same for symptoms except I've gone off my Mac and cheese cravings and now don't feel like eating anything. Forcing myself to eat cereal and have eaten a bit of Chinese, although that may not have been the best idea.
That's about it for today. DH and I are going to try to see The Hunger Games tomorrow. Wish me luck with all those movie smells!

That sucks that you haven't been able to eat like you'd like to, but honestly, I don't think it will affect little Bowie much at this point. I don't think it's until later in the pregnancy that they start to feel the effects of if you have low blood sugar. Right now your body is putting that little one first in any bite of food you eat, and so long as you're taking your prenatals, Bowie is getting everything he/she needs So don't stress! Just make it through the first trimester, and then hopefully your m/s will go away and you can chow down!

Thanks, Joy. I knew that, but it helps to hear the reminder because I do get so worried.
7 weeks
Today we went to see The Hunger Games. It was good! I think they did a very good job translating the book to the big screen, and usually I don't like the movie if I read the book first.
It is nice that our whole immediate family knows. I got to send the weekly pregnancy update to my MIL as well as my mother this week. My mother does get some info that my MIL doesn't, such as belly pics, just because I think my mother is probably more interested in that than my MIL.
Also, I have the best husband ever! After the movie, I decided to try a burrito from Qdoba. I figured it was a bad idea and that I would wait to eat it when we got home. Turns out Bowie likes burritos. When it was time to take the belly pic, I asked Bert to get me another burrito figuring he'd say no since it's a 40 minute round trip. He said yes!!! I cannot believe he's doing that for me! I think he's glad I've found something to eat other than mac and cheese.
Not looking forward to going to work tomorrow (never am), but at least we have Good Friday off, so it's only a 4 day work week!

I'm telling you... this baby has loved Mexican food from the very beginning, even when I was queasy. It's weird! Maybe you're baking a boy too. Your husband is such a sweetie for treating his pregnant wife like a princess.

That'd be awesome since we both think it's be nice to have a boy for our oldest. Our BD timing does sway towards boy...
Isn't he just amazing!?!

7 Weeks 1 Day
I bought three burritos for myself today. I figured it'd give me dinner for the next few days. I wish I had the energy to cook the Mexican food, but I don't, so it's Mexican restaurant food for right now and that means a lot of calories and I just can't do that. I figure I'll do cereal for most meals and allow myself the 1,000 calorie burrito once per day. I just wish DH would get the memo. He made himself a Hot Pocket today and it makes me feel sick.
I had an interesting pregnancy concern today! Some of the teachers in my school are hatching chicks. I actually used to do this every year myself. It's a lot of fun. Anyways, two of the teachers were out today so I figured I'd help them out by checking the water level in their incubators. One of them went fine. The second teacher had an egg that had a big problem. The incubator had the "post-hatching" smell and one of the eggs had the post-hatching brown goo around it. The problem is that the chicks aren't supposed to hatch for a few more days. I called another teacher who has hatched chicks for longer than I have and she came up to take a look. She'd never seen that happen before either. We think the egg got cracked somehow and some of the yolk escaped and caused the goo. However, this means that the incubator may have bacteria that is harmful to the other chicks. We're hoping that I caught it early enough, but after just having had the weekend we're not sure. She took care of the egg since I didn't feel comfortable touching it since I'm pregnant.
Of course, after a little while I started worrying that if it could hurt the unborn chicks, could it hurt my unborn child? I called my doctor, but of course they had no clue since we live in a city that's neck and neck with Providence as the second largest in New England and we don't have all that many exposures to chickens! The nurse said she'd check with a doctor, but that she recommend I call a vet to find out. The vet didn't know because they only see cats and dogs, so I called the local emergency animal hospital that sees small animals. I couldn't get through to anyone. Just when I was about to try to call a zoo, I got a call back from my OB and they said they don't know of any risks since I didn't ingest anything. I feel fine and that's what I figured would be the case, but it's so easy to worry!

What a strange thing to encounter! I'm sure everything will be just fine, but I bet you never imagined you'd be calling your OB with that concern.

catching up on your journal. your DH is really a sweetie. my DH is going crazy about the food too, but in a different way. Ever since the talk with my midwife about nutrition he tries to make sure I only get the best nutrition for the little one He even eats veggies with me he doesn't generally like very much. Aren't our DHs the finest?
that chick-story is really odd. I've never been into chicken hatching, but it's understandable you were worried for your little one! glad the OB was able to get you an answer.
