Thanks everyone!!!

We are home and doing good. When I get a few moments I will write up my birth story.

This is all surreal right now. I cannot believe my baby boy is here with us, it feels like yesterday I just found out I was pregnant. Anyways, we are all home and getting settled in. It's been a rough couple of days with bfing. After a little practice and finding the right position I have not had issues with Ashton latching on. The only problem I am having is keeping Ashton awake durnig his feedings when I have to wake him up. My nipples are also extremely sore and the left one is bleeding a bit.

The cats checked Ashton out right away but not really interested in him. They walk by him check him out and go on with there own business. I'm just indecided how we want to handle sleeping arrangements tonight because I don't the cats will jump in the cradle but want to play it safe.

DH has also been amazing with Ashton and me . It is so cute seeing him being a daddy.

I will update more later. Time to go feed

Nipple shields were my BFF when we came home. Some days I was in so much pain I couldn't stand it, but the shields made it tolerable until the nips healed/toughened up. We had the same issue with Bax falling asleep. A few tricks that worked for us were: tickling his feet a bit, wiggling his arm, and stroking his cheek (the one closest to boobie). Hang in there, it gets better!!! Can't wait to read your birth story. Reminds me, I still haven't posted mine (even though its written!!)

Definitely hang in there. BF really does get better.

So happy for you guys. Enjoy this time with your new little one. Can't wait to hear the birth story... but only when you're settled. XO

Yeah, breastfeeding really does get better. Sean used to nurse for 1.5 hours at a time and now it's 5 minutes. The pain goes away, too. You poor thing with the bleeding.

We lock up our cats in the basement at night because it helps us feel more comfortable. One of them was jumping in the crib so I just don't trust them.

So glad it's going well! Isn't it the most amazing feeling?! So happy for you!

Glad you are home and settled! First few days of BFing are the worst, but the soreness just all of a sudden goes away. I didnt even really notice it being gone until a few days went by and I realized wow that doesnt feel uncomfortable anymore and hasnt for days now.

Ember was a sleeper and getting her up was TOUGH. We did everything including cold, wet washcloth on the back and the silly thing still slept. Girl likes her sleep!

Can't wait to read the birthstory, but take your time and rest up and enjoy being a mommy.

Today is my official EDD! I'm really glad Ashton came a week early considering her was 8lbs 11oz.

Thanks for the bfing tips. We have a good days and our bad days but hanging in there. Tomorrow I am going to call and make an appointment with a LC. I think that's going to be the best thing for us.

I haven't been on much; it's been a crazy week! I am tired and tired of people stopping over! There seems to be someone stopping in everyday. I told DH I want a few days w/o visitors but his aunt and uncle are coming over tomorrow. Then this coming weekend my SIL is coming into town. It's just hard when we are working on bfing and just over tired but hopefully after tomorrow we can have time to ourselves.

Friday we took Ashton to the pedi just for a check up. He was up 3.5oz and everything was looking good.

Other than that; DH took 3 weeks off, I'm glad he did. It's nice to have his help.

I also cannot believe my baby boy is here and I am just love my peanut so much I will post pics shortly too.

One of my pet peeves is when people (yes even family) think they can just pop in during mom & baby's first week home. You're not really up for entertaining, you wanna get the breastfeeding and all that down pat and you're probably exhausted all the time. Plus you don't need all the germs people bring in. Sorry to vent on your thread but I feel ya!

Glad BFing is going better! I understand the family thing. It's nice but overwhelming. For us it was compounded by the holidays! Hope things settle down. Glad Nate was able to take off so much time. How is he doing with fatherhood?
