I have to say.. I'm impressed!!! The doppler is ON THE DELIVERY TRUCK RIGHT NOW heading to my house!! Hopefully it doesn't require a signature so they can just leave it at my door

It's not good to use it too much. I limited myself to once every few days, but mainly was fine with Sundays (my start of a new week) and then just if I got really nervous). Sometimes it takes a few minutes to find them because they are so small and move around so much, so try not to worry if it takes a few minutes or if s/he runs away from the doppler. I was able to find it consistently after 10 weeks but found it once at 8 something. Enjoy your doppler!

Yeah, I would use it pretty sparingly.. Unfortunately, they didn't leave it at my door *mumble*, so I should get it today (signed the paper that said.. leave it at my door!).

Which means I'll play with it tonight..and if i find the beat, I'll feel MUCH more comfortable with my parents and inlaws starting to break the news this weekend.

Yeah, I have to come up with something. I told my mom I'd give her a couple days headstart before I put anything on facebook (since she was mad that I put my engagement up before she could tell her friends...since a ton of her friends are on my fb...) (Did I say all this before?? I feel like I have.. LOL).

So the parents and inlaws are getting their "ok" on Friday..then on Sunday night I'll have to figure out some fun way to announce it. My close friends will also be informed via phone Friday or Saturday though

I can't wait to see what you do! I think you should have Appa holding a sign that says I'm going to be a big brother

He *might* sit still for that.

I can't wait to see what you come up with! Karin, that's a cute idea. I kind of wanted to do something with my cats but it's to hard to get them to sit still

LOL, I was thinking of that kind of thing... I also ran across a really cute idea if we can make it work...

See if I can get Appa to lay down with his nose on my tummy and then caption it to say "when can you come out to play?" ... though that could potentially be a little vague since I'm obviously not showing yet.. LOL

I know, I do too. Though I'm thinking I might have to do it more from a standing position since one of Appa's tricks is a "high 10", it'd probably be easier to do. But I think this is the idea I'll run with, one way or another

That's a cute idea!

Were you able to use the doppler and hear the heartbeat?

I was able to user the doppler, but couldn't find the heartbeat...so I'll probably try again tonight, and if I don't hear it tonight, I'll wait til next week

And I'm copying this from an email I just sent a friend cuz I'm lazy:
Just got a call from my dog daycare… apparently another dog and Appa got into a scuffle (the other dog was the instigator) and Appa’s hurt…not badly – but he’s got 2 decent sized puncture wounds on his neck from the other dog’s canines .. so I’ve pulled him out of his groom tonight (which is sad..because he’s starting to get so scruffy and ragged looking). Depending on how they look, I might have to take him to the vet. The daycare supervisor said that they could just scab over if we keep them clean, or if we decide to take him to the vet they might put a small stitch in each one to hold it closed .. so I’ll have to see what it looks like when I pick him up..poor guy.

Apparently after they separated them, Appa was shaking pretty bad, so they’re giving him a lot of TLC. The offered to take him to the vet for me, but I’d rather have my own vet look at him (esp since I’d still have to cover the costs either way). The other dog wasn’t hurt. (They’re putting some polysporin on it and some other disinfectant that they have since you never know what’s on a dogs teeth). I feel so sad for him…and worse cuz I can’t just run over and pick him up right now

If it was closer to 2:15, I probably would have and then brought him into work with me for the last bit..since I can close the door to my office so it’d be safe….. blah. Unfortunately, it's almost 3 and I'm by myself now on the phones, so can't really abandon work .. Boo.

Oooh, poor Appa! I'm sure the scared factor will be worse than the wound factor. Wounds will heal, but a frightened dog takes some major TLC.

Give him some cuddles, poor little one!

I will be, believe me!!!!

I'm glad they put him right back in with some MUCH calmer, quieter dogs..with all of Appa's issues, the last thing I need is for him to decide to be fearful of other dogs.....
