I promise to update tonight. I'm feeling much better! The only thing that stinks is that I have to wake up to pee four times a night while I'm sleeping. Real update coming later.

*hugs*

Ive been getting up to pee at night since I was a baby. Ive never ever slept through the night. Lol.

Are you doing belly pictures? I know you are struggling with the idea of gaining weight but you should do them even if you don't look at them or share them. The biggest regret people I know is not doing them because they don't like the way they look.

Warning: This could be long.

I'll start with pregnancy/baby related news. I'm 8 weeks now. Tomorrow I have my first appointment with an OB who delivers. His office is just around the corner from my house (8 mins according to online maps). And so is the hospital! I'm hoping for an ultrasound just to confirm that baby is growing right on track. If I get that then I'll really feel like I can relax and wait for the ultrasound to tell us the sex of the baby. I thought my nausea was letting up, but I felt really crummy today. The fatigue has definitely hit. I'm not able to sleep, but I have ZERO energy to do ANYTHING. I'm still peeing a minimum of 4 times a night. That's frustrating. However it's okay. Everything is okay.

I want to revisit my last rant. I am worried about gaining weight, yes, but the feeling I was trying to describe was feeling chained to food. It was like the only way to keep nausea at bay was to eat...constantly. And that's just not feasible. I was feeling overwhelmed at the thought I would have to consume 4000 calories a day just to keep from feeling worthless. Zofran has made major improvements in that. The world doesn't have to stop now just because I feel an ounce of hunger. So I'm not tied to food at every waking or sleeping moment. That's been a huge relief.

Last week was a crazy busy week. I ended up babysitting every day. That was a little much. And then yesterday my husband dragged me along to a volunteer day with this local jail dogs program. After I had taught RPM that morning and the morning before. After I'd had very minimal sleep. I ended up napping in the car for a bit because I just ran out of steam at the event. That and we were showcasing the dogs outside in the hot weather. Can you say miserable? I told Husband that I did not enjoy the event, as I said I wouldn't, but I would be open to trying it another time when I hadn't had the busiest week ever. We volunteered from 10am-5pm. That's a long freaking day.

We will be telling our parents this week, provided that my appointment is normal tomorrow. My trip to see my parents got delayed because my dad is going to a reunion of sorts in Nashville, and he's just too old to fly there and back in time for me to visit. So I told them no problem, I'll just come down a different weekend. That was disappointing. Luckily I came up with a new plan. I'm going to facetime/Skpe with mom and dad under the premise that my husband and I made a big purchase over the weekend and want to show them. Then I'll hold up a baby outfit or something baby-related and watch their reactions. We'll probably do that tomorrow. Then we'll call Husband's mother this weekend. Then we will see Husband's father this weekend, so we can tell him and his wife in person.

Well now that Reba has finally caught up.....

I have so much to update on. The good news is that I'm finally feeling better so I have the energy and excitement to post again. I'll fill in all the gaps and discuss my big prenatal appt later this afternoon... Probably while I'm in class this evening

Okay. I'm feeling SO much better on so many levels.

I'm officially 10 weeks; 11 weeks on Friday. That means it has REALLY been a minute since I gave an update. I think I mentioned it but I was starting to feel really sick to my stomach. Of course I got really busy with school work and babysitting right as my stomach started rebelling. But I'll get to that in a minute.

Telling family update.

The big reveal went pretty well. My mother kind of knew what was up. Facetime-ing my parents was great, except Dad didn't really hold the tablet still. My mother, being the crazy not-so-there-woman that she is, was like, "Well, we are sure it's your husband's baby, right? I mean it's not the mailman's baby?" Uhhhh..... :***: I didn't take offense, I just tried to think about the fact that she meant it as a joke. I laughed and said we were sure. My parents said they were happy, but they didn't cry or shout for joy or anything. They are so WEIRD.

Husband's dad gave me my favorite response. He said, "Well no matter how my business trip turns out my trip is MADE!" So sweet! I struggle with feeling like I fit IN to his Dad's family so his response meant a lot to me. Husband's step mother was all, "We knew you would get pregnant before graduating! What happened to graduating and all that before having kids? We knew." Of course. :eyeroll: Because she knows everything. That's just her though, so it didn't bother me. PS: She is the kind of woman to give advice about everything even though she never had kids.

Husband's mother was TRAVELING and didn't turn on her cell phone. I don't UNDERSTAND why you wouldn't turn on your cellphone on your huge trip across the US from one city to another! And then she wasn't checking email or FB. We did finally get her to call us, and she was THRILLED. She cried. It was beautiful and perfect. We are very close. I was excited to tell her.

Okay so that's how the reveals went. Now onto how I've been feeling.

I started getting really sick to my stomach. THEN I developed a stinkin' COLD in the middle of the summertime. Hello, pregnancy that is sucking away all of my immune system. Then the Zofran had an unpleasant side effect of backed up plumbing. So for a week, between babysitting jobs and school work, I laid in bed, miserable. I couldn't eat. I couldn't not eat. I couldn't breath out my nose. I couldn't poop out my behind. I was not feeling it.

Thankfully, my doctor okayed some medication that knocked me out at night. So I used that in combination with a nasal spray to get over the cold. I think I have a little of the pregnancy stuffy nose, but I'm treating that with nasal spray in one nostril at night. I can get buy as long as I can breathe out of ONE side of my nose.

The constipation was ANOTHER issue. I don't even want to describe what all I tried. Eventually I made an appt and the doctor told me I had a tipped uterus that was possibly sitting on my intestines and bladder. I figured I had a tipped uterus because urinating was slow and difficult sometimes. The verdict was that I was not impacted, it would pass, and the uterus would right itself. So I've quit the laxatives and the stool softeners in favor of "bulking fiber". I've got to give metamucil credit...it works. Eventually. So now I drink it every day. And now I'm going again every day. However that was NOT a fun issue to deal with.

The nausea has passed, for the most part. I can eat again and I cannot eat again. I think my weight has held steady. I did resort to drinking Ensures when I wasn't going regularly and my appetite was decreased. That helped me feel like I was getting SOME nutrition during those rough weeks.

So if you're wondering my ugly symptoms peaked at 6,7,8 weeks, started clearing at 9 weeks, and have almost left me by 10 weeks. THAT is what kept me from updating.

I'll post about my appointment tomorrow.

You're so lucky, Sam! I'm 10 weeks today and I feel like all the crappy symptoms are just starting to take hold!!!

Thanks for the tip about metamucil -- I will totally keep that in mind. I hate the constipation almost as much as the nausea! And now Ensure is on my shopping list!

I'm so glad that telling your family went alright! So glad that your MIL's reaction was perfect!

Glad you're feeling better, friend! Looking forward to the appointment update!

Hurray for telling the fam!!! So glad it went well

Constipation+pregnancy=THE WORST! watch out for the hemorrhoids....seriously u do not want that....

I've taken to drinking "green smoothie" or it's sometimes called "green juice". There's lots of different recipes out there, but it really helps me get my veggies all in one shot so I don't have to eat a big salad. It's actually pretty good, it doesn't taste like veggies at all. I put so much lemon in mine that all I really taste is that.

TOTAL bummer on the general stomach issues....hopefully your uterus will start tipping the other way once baby gets bigger. Happy your nausea is a little better! That's always a good thing!!!
