So I finally got up the courage to to start a pregnancy journal I had my 12 week scan today and it went great!!
For a bit a background, me and DF started TTC#1 in July 2011 after we bought our first house. After no BFP's in 12 months we were referred to our local hospital for further tests. A HSG in July 2012 showed I had a blocked right tube but everything otherwise looked good. In September 2012 I had surgery to open up the tube and remove some adhesions which was successful. We did our first round of 50mg Clomid in December 2012 which resulted in a BFN. We then took four months off from MA due to timing with our Wedding in November. We jumped back into MA in June and did our first IUI with Clomid 50mg and Ovidrel trigger - BFN.
We did our second IUI in July 2013 with Clomid 50mg and Ovidrel trigger and at 12DPIUI (my 27th Birthday) I got a beautiful BFP!
I had two early scans at 5wks and 7wks, to rule out an ectopic (due to my damaged tube) and then to confirm viability. We saw an amazing heartbeat at 7wks 4days
We went and had a private scan at 10wks 4days because i've been pretty anxious and it showed that the LO was doing fine and growing perfectly.
Today we had our 12 week NT scan. Scan went great but it took a long whilke as baby did NOT want to co-operate with the measuring the sonographer had to do! It did mean we got to look at the LO for an extra long time though which was amazing Baby has two arms, two legs and its getting bigger by the day - it had grown more than 2cms since the scan at 10wks 4days!
Thanks Jaidynsmum for the siggy! My fertility blog: Only Infertile
NTNP since March 2012, TTC since August 2012, HSG = one blocked tube, SA = normal, 1st RE 7/11 - took a zillion tests, 2nd RE appt = Tubal issue with PCOS tendencies, possible polyp, August 2013 - possible polyp, September 2013 - new job, insurance change! January 2014 - new insurance, March 2014 - new RE appointment, then surprise BFP!
Ok so I want to do an update but I've just finished reading Karin's birth story and feeling VERY emotional
It means alot to me that all of you ladies have stopped by to wish me and my LO well, if a baby could grow on well wishes alone - I think we'd be a-ok!
I'm still on my anti-sickness medication atm, I tried a couple of days without it at the weekend as a trial, saturday went well but sunday did NOT! It was about the same as it was before I sarted the meds, puking after pretty much anything passed my lips. I was so so disappointed after saturday had gone so well, obviously it was just a little too early. I'll give it a couple more weeks before trying again bt I will need to pick up another prescription in the next few days as they gave me 28days worth initially which i'm very nearly finished with (time flies!)
Weight / belly wise, I havent weighed myself since the weekend when I was back to the weight I was pre-IUI. I'm definately changing shape though, my clothes - especially trousers are getting unfortunately. Luckily I have a few pairs from before I lost 30lbs for MA that still fit. It wont be long till I need to get some maternity clothes though I think. I also finally caved and went bra shopping this last weekend, a nice lady measured me and was sooo helpful and full of info about maternity bras! I ended up getting two non wired bras, one black one white. They're a bit more padded than i'd usually go far (dont really have any need for padding ) but they're really comfy. They're a size up on the back size than I'd usually go for but the lady explained they needed to be done up on the smallest size so I could let them out as my belly grows! I would never have thought about that!
We have done a little bit of baby shoping - so far we have three outfits for baby to wear. All very very cute! I'll post pics if I remember next time. Also and very very exciting, we're going to look at a crib tomorrow evening. I saw it for sale on a local message board and its so very cute, its white and is a glider. I hope it looks good IRL cos it's a good bargain too! I cant wait - actual baby furniture!! We'll likely not get any more other big shopping till after the weddng as we have lots of other things to be getting on with!
Oh gosh what else....oh our next scan isnt until 20 weeks! It seems so long away, it also happens to be the week of the wedding! At that appointment we'llalso meet with our consultant and we'll plan the rest of my pregnancy andtalk about delivery etc. This means that unless we have a private scan, we wont find about gender until 20wks. Not sure if I can wait that long so i'm working on DF to talk him into a private scan.
Symptoms otherwise, I'm feeling lots of pressure and stretching in my lower abdomen and lady parts. I think i've even had some experiences of the wonderful crotch lightening or similar that I've heard so much about. I've learnt to sit down very slowly and carefully to avoid the pain! It can take me by surprise though if I forget, usually when im getting into the car!
We're both deliriously happy otherwise, DF is feeling much more comfortable with the pregnancy these days and is happier to talk baby and the future with me. Its fun trying to have time together during the week as I'm in bed so early because i'm so exhausted and DF works late but we spend plenty of time togther on the weekend!
Wedding wise - My hen do is planned for October and my very understanding bridsmaids are making the arrangements so they're pregnancy friendly! I still dont know anything about what we'll be doing, its a big secret! I've just had to ask nicely for a wardrobe list because, as i mentioned before, i'm quickly running out of clothes that fit.
I think that's covered most things for now, I suspect I'll think of something else soon though!
Quick update as I have a tonne of work to finish but I wanted to share that we finally told my family last night!!! That included my mum, brother, aunt, uncle, 3 cousins, other aunt and my nan - my sister was there too but she's known for a while. We'd gone out for dinner for my nans birthday and I wrapped her up a frame with an u/s picture of the LO. Everyone figured it out before she did bless her after she unwrapped the frame. Even though we were in the middle of a restaurant there were ALOT of tears, my brother who's 21, a rugby player and 'guys guy' was the first to see the photo as he was sat next to my nan, he literally almost exploded and ran around the table to hug (squash) me, swiftly followed by my aunts and my mum. Everyone was so very happy for us and kept saying well done and congratulations and how happy they were for us. I cried too (no surprise there lol) and so did my sister. My poor nan bless her needed to be told about 2 mins after unwrapping the picture that it meant Jen was pregnant, she knew it was an u/s picture but didnt catch on to what it meant. I love her This was pretty much towards the end of the meal so after a little while of talking we settled the bill and all left the restaurant, again to many congratulations and reminiscing of mine, my siblings and my counsins births by my mum and aunt. From this I learnt the following:
I was breach and my mum ended up having a c/section (1986)
My sister came next, normal vaginal birth (1989)
My brother came last, normal vaginal birth but early and low birth weight (1991)
My counsins all came pretty normally too, except my eldest cousin S who got her chin stuck in my aunts pelvis and was delivered via forceps. Turns out she got so stuck her nose was squished and wonky for a while after birth.
I also learnt that my mum had pretty bad m/s until 20wks, at which point on she had horrendous heartburn - with all three of us! A sign of things to come perhaps...
We had also visited my dad before we went out for dinner (my parents have been divorced a long time) and shared the news. He was very pleased and told us 'well 'done' (we got alot of this and it sounds really strange lol). He also offered to babysit, but not till the LO is toilet trained and doesnt cry Yep, thats my dad!!
Anyway, that means the majority of our families now know, with the exception of DF's granparents who we will probably drive up and see soon (they live about 3hrs away by car).
Thank you Vicki for my amazing siggie!
