Just starting a thread to see if anyone has any delicious, tried-n-true, homemade smoothie recipes? We have a little smoothie maker, and we never use it. I love fruit, it's summer, and I decided I need to learn and make these!
I tried one today, and it's tasty, but I'm having a hard time getting the consistency right. Here is the made up recipe I used: * disclaimer, I have no idea how much I used of anything...just guessed!
about 6 green grapes
3 small pieces pineapple
little bit lemonade (few tbsp?)
couple spoons of plain greek yogurt
little squirt of boysenberry honey
3 ice cubes
I think I need to freeze some berries to help make it a bit thicker, or use frozen greek yogurt instead of the normal kind. It was tasty, but a little thinner than i'd like, and also, my blueberries didn't mix up well. I mean, they blended well, but there were all sorts of blueberry skin pieces in the smoothie
Adding ice or freezing your fruit before blending will give you the thick consistency you're looking for.
1/4 c. cold milk
2 c. vanilla ice cream
1 can pineapple chunks, undrained
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1-1/4 c. orange juice
2 c. diced fresh nectarines, frozen
1 c. mango chunks, frozen
3/4 c. apple juice
1 c. diced kiwi, fresh
1 c. strawberries, frozen
2 bananas, sliced & frozen
1 c. vanilla yogurt
1/2 c. grape juice
1-1/2 c. blueberries, frozen
1 c. blackberries, frozen
- Combine yogurt & grape juice in blender.
- Add berries & blend til smooth.
- Strain through sieve to remove seeds & blueberry skins
Just Dew It!
2-1/2 c. diced honeydew melon, fresh
2 Tbsp. fresh mint, chopped
1 Tbsp. fresh lime juice
Pinch of salt
1/2 c. Ginger Ale or Lemon Lime soda
6 ice cubes
1 c. strong brewed Peppermint Tea (Decaf is fine), room temp or chilled
1/2 c. lemon sorbet
1-1/2 c. orange segments, frozen
1/2 c. grapefruit segments, frozen
- Combine tea & sorbet in blender
- Add orange & grapefruit segments
- Blend til smooth
I can give you more!! But that's likely enough for now!
While it can be a little expensive...the whey protein that I use is TOTALLY worth it as it's the best tasting out there... )
I use J Robb Whey Protein (also only one I know of made with stevia!).
1 scoop J Robb Chocolate whey protein
1/2 tbsp stevia extract in the raw
1 FROZEN banana
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 cup unsweetened coconut or almond milk (the lowest calorie you can find - usually only 1 or 2 g carbs/sugar)
OPTIONAL - 1 tsp skippy natural peanut butter
blend and drink!
1 scoop j robb strawberry j robb protein powder
1/2 cup FROZEN strawberries
1/2 tbsp stevia extract in the raw
1 cup either unsweetened almond or coconut milk
I use unsweetened coconut milk (or almond, depends on my mood) as a base for EVERY smoothie! sooooooo delicious (and that's a brand I like is So Delicious Coconut Milk! haha!) and sooooo good for you!

2 C unsweetened almond or coconut milk
2 spoonfuls of Organic yogurt
spoonful of raw organic almond butter
spoonful of milled flax seed
dash of cinnamon
spoonful of chia seeds
frozen peaches or banana's
1 scoop of protein powder
One of my favorite smoothies is The Alkalinity! Snagged it from a hippy board shop in Arcata CA The Alkalinity: in blender (for two people), 2 cups coconut water, one avocado, one peeled cucumber, one peeled lemon (or whole meyers lemon with peel if you have a good blender), one big handful of raw spinach, one handful of raw sunflower seeds, optional: 1 tblspoon Agave. Blend with a little ice.
