What do you think are your favorite or most used baby shower gifts/purchases?

I love the medicine kits. Its like no one thinks about needing a thermometer, baby tylenol, gas drops, or whatever until its needed and in the middle of the night.

I also like the baby bath kits. Like a lotion, baby shampoo, and bath. I don't know if they do those anymore either. Both of the above though can be easily made and given as a gift basket though!

Speaking of gift baskets, lol, when pregnant with DD#1 we at our shower a pink laundry basket filled with diapers and stuff. It was nice. I had that laundry basket FOREVER!! LOL

My favorite baby shower gifts are the handmade baskets. I got a few of those at my last shower.

One was a bath kit one, like you mentioned. It came with a few washcloths, a towel, shampoo, soap, lotion and a toy.

Another one was a sleeping themed one. That came with footed PJs, sleepy-time lotion, a soothing cd and a teddy bear.

Another one was a mom-time themed one (and probably the most thoughtful). It had postpartum lotion, a packet of flavored tea, a devotional book with a small uplifting message for every day, a book that teaches you how to give yourself mini massages. It really was great!!

I liked these gifts so much that every time I have a baby shower or wedding shower to go to, I make them myself as gifts. It shows that a lot of thought went into them AND they are useful!

My most used purchases/gifts were: the vibrating chair, baby swing and when she was a little older, the exersaucer. I also LOVE the boppy pillow.

For smaller gifts, I loved the bath gifts. They never went to waste!

Diaper champ = complete waste of money. Use your plastic grocery bags or my favorite, Target bags.

Toweling robes - pointless.

Shampoo. DS was allergic to J&J and I discovered this after the 2nd huge bottle. What a waste.

I actually liked our bottle warmer - but we only used it for about a month. So...not really all that helpful for the long haul. I can't imagine using a wipes warmer...and waiting for wipes to warm up. I'd be afraid they'd catch fire if you left it warming without needing them...just an odd gadget.

Most used gifts:

Bottle warmer. I nursed but I also pumped when working. The bottle warmer was perfect for DH to help at night so I could sleep a bit.

Burp cloths: both of my kids were pukers. My son especially

Diapers: as mentioned before, always used

Breast Pump: used it for both kids for over a year

Toiletries: I don't think I bought a single bottle of baby lotion or soap for either one of my kiddos

Bouncy/Vibrating seat: It was nice to have a place to put the kiddo that wasn't lying directly on their back

I love that I'm so out of it that I posted in the wrong thread lol

I've had a headache all day, that's my only excuse. Sorry ladies!

Anyway...since I already chimed in with what I didn't like, I'll tell you what I did, to make it slightly more even! I liked the clothes. I can't get over the cuteness of tiny outfits. They just make my heart melt each and every time.

I really like the idea of the sleepy time basket, and the bath basket - I got a few commericalized versions of the bath basket which were neat, but nothing hand picked like you're describing. I think that's so very thoughtful and personal, yet completely useful. I'm going to steal that for my next baby shower gift idea!

I am a sucker for the little clothes And of course I like the bath stuffs, but usually people will buy the Johnson and Johnson and we have a family history of eczema and we can't use anything scented.
