So we're moving into a bigger house at the end of May - Yay! However, that means packing [though we're going less then 5 miles up the road, so we won't be packing much] but mostly - Cleaning. We live in military housing, and they want their houses spick and span when we move out, especially since we've only been here a year. (When we moved out of housing to move out here, we didn't have to do much because we lived for for 4.5 years, so they were going to replace & repaint everything anyways)

The only good side to this move is we'll have 4 days to move and clean. We can get the keys to the new house as early as 7am on Thursday morning and then we have to hand over the keys to the old house I think at like 11am on Monday morning. . .

I'll be 28 weeks pregnant by then [it seems to far away when I put it that way!]. . . We'll basically have one day to SCRUB the entire house, top to bottom to get it ready for our final inspection on Monday. I've been trying to do things here & there to make it easier on us - Our house isn't a mess, but I admit that I don't deep clean much. The other night I scrubbed everything living out of our upstairs bathroom and by the time I was done - my hips were killing me and I felt like my back was going to break!

I jokingly told DH I was going to hire someone to do our move out cleaning - And he said if I want to, I can.

Well I've found 2 people within the military so far who does cleaning - One is an actual company and for our size house, it'll be $200 for her to do a move-out clean. She guarentees that it'll pass inspection. The other lady, just does house cleaning and I am not sure how much she charges - But I'm thinking I may go with this company since they have a specific move-out special. The only thing we'd have to do is shampoo the carpets - Which is doable for me. I am thinking we can rent a cleaner & come through after she's done cleaning Sunday evening and do them at that point.

What would y'all do? Would you push through it and do the cleaning, or go ahead & hire someone for $200? Money isn't an issue for us in this case.

If money isn't an option then HIRE SOMEONE!!! Moving itself is enough work and once you get into your new place you still need to unpack and get settled. You may have some cleaning to do there too.

lol I'd probably do it myself and spend the money on something fun but that's me. One less thing to worry about is always nice too so go for it!

I have to agree, while you might have the extra $200, I'd rather spend it on something/anything else. Cleaning is easy.

Hire it out! We are also moving in 2 weeks, and I'm considering doing this as well.

Hire someone! No more worrying about it, just do it and move on to the rest of your to-do list. Big fan of outsourcing here !

I would hire someone! I've moved out of rental houses a couple of times and did the deep clean once all the furniture is out. It is absolutely exhausting even when you're not pregnant. At 28 weeks, I would just suck it up and pay the $200 to have someone else do it.

I would hire someone as well! I'm not huge fan of deep cleaning either, and now being pregnant, I don't really like being around too many chemicals!

Oh honey, hire someone. Moving is stressful enough without hard physical work.

I talked to DH last night - And he is down with hiring this person who does move out cleans. We would have to find someone to watch DD that day again, and I don't wanna bug my friend 2 days in a row - So we were going to pay someone DH works with to do it. So while hiring someone to clean will cost more then hiring a babysitter - I think we're going with the cleaning route for my own sanity. And that way we have that extra day to unpack before DH has to go back to work on Tuesday.

A cleaning lady is the best gift I have ever given to myself! I HIGHLY recommend going with a cleaning lady!

If you can afford it, let them do it! You can focus on setting up your new house instead of boring cleaning! Plus you know it will pass inspection!

If money isn't an issue at this time, I'd pay someone else to do it. It's worth every penny if you can avoid the pain you will feel afterward.

Your mommah told me to get one to do it, too! LOL.

Question - Do we have to/should we tip her as well? If so, how much?

My mom has a cleaning lady come every 2 weeks [was once a week until they had to cut back on expenses] and I can't remember if she tips her or not.

I am SO glad you decided to hire someone, it is SO exhausting moving while pregnant. I don't know about tipping a person who cleans once, I can see tipping someone who comes regularly. My parents have a cleaning person come twice a month and I believe they tip.

Hmm not sure about tipping...have never hired a cleaner. Erm is there anyone around who's used the service or a similar service, who you could ask?
